You say unusual --- What do you think of the 1965-D Pease Dollar by Daniel Carr (absolutely stunning!!!)

OP, Why is this coin unusual..?

 

For your question, Rick: the Dan Carr coins are garbage.. People can praise him as a talented artist (and I'm sure he is), call the coins "creations"/"overstrikes" or whatever.. They're still garbage to me and nothing else, and I do not understand why people collect them and how he's even allowed to make and sell them. I know of 1 young new collector that was fooled by one of this coin (was sold to him as authentic).

To add insult to injury, instead of striking his "coins" on a plain piece of metal, he sometimes takes legit coins, defaces them, and "creates" a new "coin" on top of the ruined, defaced U.S coin. I do not find these things beautiful, interesting or anything. Wanna know the worst thing? Some of these come in an original government packaging (that once contained the original, REAL coin), and with a COA. Really?? A certificate of authenticity?? For a thing that could not be less authentic....

I had the chance to purchase these several times at a very good price, and I knew I could flip them and make a nice profit right away, but I refused (and still am refusing) to buy these..

Maybe because they are controversial and make some collectors blood boil.
