Not just brown but DARK BROWN. But somehow it managed to savor really nice luster. The strike speaks for itself. I could not decide on an obverse pic so here are a few.

MS 65. I can only imagine NGC felt it was too dark? The luster pops even in low light. IDK maybe I will resubmit one day if I decide to sell.

 

Edited to add. The luster is satin and not a cartwheel. I am not an experienced grader but this may also hold the coin back?

After I posted, I started wondering if NGC has ever graded one of these a 66.

I have never checked. I do know that not a lot of early BN's make it above 65

I all the years that I have collected lincolns, I have never seen a brown any higher than a 65. I have a couple now and had several more in the past. That's not to say they don't exhist

I assume you are referring to non proof Lincoln's. There are proof 66BNs around.

RGB to be more precise.

 

I'll have to get it out and look at it. I don't remember the obverse being as red as the photo shows.

 

I know it isn't as dark as Copper toning's 1912's or the 1928.
