No Morgan is safe from counterfeiting

These can be highly profitable and those that are purchased may or may not leave a nasty after taste since the buyer may or may not bother to have the piece evaluated.

 

As such, the buyer "may" never know that a counterfeit was purchased.

 

Will it affect the hobby?

 

Possibly but not to the extent that some would have you believe since as Roger stated, counterfeiting began shortly after the first coin was produced which was many thousands of years ago. And look at us today.
