Q: This man issued fraudulent notes to the citizens of Buffalo, NY in the early 19th century. What was his name and his common nickname?

A: Benjamin Rathbun who was known as the Municipal Napoleon.

 

Fun Fact: "Approximately 10% of the city was on his payroll. He as put on trial and convicted of fraud shortly after the Panic of 1837."
