Howard Porter Posted May 19, 2021 Share Posted May 19, 2021 Suggest a new collection of SS Republic Shipwreck coins including my three NGC graded 1861-O seated Liberty half dollars (2,532,633 total minted at New Orleans in 1861): one 1861 O 50C W-01A United States issue one 1861 O 50C W-13 which is a Confederate States issue (962,633 issued with United States of America on reverse, although a few 1861 seated Liberty half dollars were minted with a Confederate States of America pattern on the reverse) one 1861 O 50C W-07 which is a Louisiana issue. Note: the rare Louisiana issue was minted after Louisiana seceded from the United States on 1/26/1861 but before it joined the Confederate States of America.on March 21, 1861. Placement of a coin in the NGC Registry is determined by our senior numismatic team on a case-by-case basis. Due to the extensive number of varieties, assembling a complete collection of SCD is quite a challenge and therefore more appropriate for Custom Sets. The New Orleans mint only minted gold and silver coins and there is already a registry set for New Orleans Gold coins, so it would be great if you could create a set for New Orleans Silver coins as well.
