QUESTION: In what year did the U.S. Mint begin offering packaged sets of regular-issue uncirculated coins to collectors for sale?

QUESTION: In what year did the U.S. Mint begin offering packaged sets of regular-issue uncirculated coins to collectors for sale?

 

ANSWER: 1948. Though the first set included coins dated 1947, it wasn't until the following year that they were offered for sale.
