What development led to the combination of printing seals and serial numbers on sheets, cutting sheets down to single notes, replacing errors with stars, and banding the notes into packs for shipment all into a single step process? How long has this development been available?

ANSWER:

COPE – Currency Overprinting and Processing Equipment

COPE has been used on all currency except sheets put out by the BEP since 1979. 30 years
