How are modern Korean notes dated?

the banknotes of the South Korean won don’t possess the year of issuance of the series like in other currencies. Instead, the notes of same face value of different series are designated with the Korean letters in alphabetical order.

North or South Korea? Either way, no idea whatsoever.

 

The new 50000 Won is the first Korean banknote that features the portrait of a woman. Definite progress if you ask me.

ANSWER:

They are dated according to the founding of the first Korean dynasty, that of the house of Tangun, in 2333 BC.
