  1. It would be a lot more meaningful if they used Kennedy half dollars for this since they are already ruining coins
  2. That is unfortunate. A great looking coin with a rim ding. I would be disappointed as well. The details are great and the facts that it it a VAM and a wild eye should make it gradable
  3. Thanks all. Sorry about the confusion. I just noticed a much more distinctive rim on this new proof coin.
  4. All my proof coins are just like the 2019 coin. 2019 W coin is .074 , .05 2.62g while the West Point coin has a more pronounced rim, it is not to the same level as the 2024s
  5. Does anyone know why the rim on the 2024 S Lincoln cent is so pronounced compared to other recent years. first the 2024 S coin the the 2019 coin. the 2024 coin is .074” in diameter and .06” weight is 2.59 g the 2019 coin is .073” in diameter and .05” weight is 2.55g
  6. Sorry sir, Looks like you may have been taken. Some British sellers are selling Chinese counterfeit coins. As my friends have stated, The 1986 Silver Eagle was only Minted in San Fran. Hope you are able to determine it is counterfeit and get a refund. Good Luck
  7. A very Nice 1938 S Washington Quarter
  8. Congratulations on the set JP! Wonderful accomplishment!
  9. Yesterday I brought 5 home rolls of quarters from the bank. Disappointed as usual. No silver. The oldest was 1965. i may never complete the quarter albums but feel good that I have completed the Kennedy, Roosevelt and Jefferson’s. Close on Buffalos, mercs, and cents sans 09s vdb and of course proof sets. Waiting to populate the 2024s next week. these are outside of my registry coins. that’s a whole different buffet!
  10. I’ll bet you didn’t know this about the eagle on early US coins. https://historyfacts.com/us-history/fact/the-eagle-once-depicted-on-u-s-coins-was-a-real-eagle-named-peter/?email=wehorton65%40gmail.com&sub_level=L1&sub_source=email_daily&utm_campaign=2090674875&utm_content=email_daily+P1_CTA&utm_medium=email&utm_source=15203108
  11. I’ve noticed the same although my MS64 FBL set are mostly similar. Mine are slightly toned, but seems like the reverses are less so.
  12. Ooh somebody has ruffled some feathers! if you collect graded coins then why not if you want nice raw examples , you can find them on EB for about $20
  13. Welcome to the forum.. FYI , the circle plastic center/ stapled square cardboardholders are called Flips. A lot easier to say and type! Lol 😆 any holder made for the proper sized coin is fine except nothing made of PVC as it can badly affect coins. “Airtite” holders are good. No holder is sealed other than third party graders such as NGC. Handle your coins with cotton gloves rather than bare hands. Feel free to post some pictures of examples.
  14. It does appear that there may be some strike through of the leaves and stems from the obverse. I’ll let others opine as they will.
  15. Just curious Chuck as to why you need to reholder a coin with a John Mercanti label. They don’t keep a stock of old labels around so I highly doubt you’ll be able to get a similar label or of course try to retain the old one.
  16. Welcome Michelle! The quarter you displayed is a normal bi-cen quarter but with some damage and a few minor blobs along with a common circle from a coin rolling machine. I will commend you as a first time poster for providing more than ample photos which, in my opinion, are some of the best photos I have seen from a first time poster. I especially enjoyed the angle photos which help us visualize the coin from different angles, however I must caution you against holding coins in your hand as oils in your hand along with fingerprints could occur on the coin. If it were a true error coin, this could greatly reduce. It’s potential value. They minted jus over 860 million of this coin so they still are quite plentiful. thanks for your post and happy hunting.😍
  17. I think Sandon is correct, The glue and paper on the reverse are a sure indication that it had been glued to a cardboard of sort as a demonstration coin.
  18. After further review... I do think your coin is legitimate. It Is a Victoria Jubilee Head CROWN not five shillings, and is currently found on Ebay for about $60. I apologize, for the mis-statement as I was on the trail of shillings and Florins.
  19. I don’t see the dot either. My 1899 Indian ( in somewhat better condition) show nothing there either
  20. I would say it is NOT real. The finish is suspect and the reverse is completely incorrect. The reverse of an 1890 Victoria jubilee head shilling should have the coat of arms on the reverse. I have both an 1877 Silver Florin and an 1877 one shilling and both have the coat of arms. The coin has a value (if real) at about $15.
