  1. So, that makes it super rare and worth a billion dollars. Right?
  2. Just looking for opinions here. I look at all of my coins under 30x or higher magnification and found this penny to be a bit odd. But, being new to numismatics I don't know if it's a double die or nothing. To me it's most obvious on the N the W and the U....
  3. Yup, I sent it off and it was deemed a struck copy. $50 wasted.
  4. I have a 1984 S proof dime. I've looked it over several times at 60x magnification and haven't found anything at all wrong. The red book says that PF65 ~ $2.50. I can't imagine it jumping too much if it is a real PF70. How can I get it officially graded without paying so much?
  5. I've not been into collecting long but to me it just looks like a beat to hell penny. What sets it off from normal wear? Anything you can tell in person?
  6. My personal recommendation is buying a fiber optic light for a microscope. They usually have 2 arms and are 100% positionable. I used to work in mosquito control and used a nice set to help identify mosquitos. If they can light scales and other tiny parts they'll be great for coins. Something like https://www.amazon.com/AmScope-HL250-AY-Dual-Gooseneck-Microscope-110V-120V/dp/B005EDVB4M/ref=sr_1_67?crid=2RNYUNAQ8KG7N&dchild=1&keywords=fiber+optic+microscope+light&qid=1598838293&sprefix=fiber+optic+microscope%2Caps%2C168&sr=8-67
  7. Just a quick question. How does one go about getting a coin, that even in 70 condition is only worth $10 or so, graded? I don't want to spend $25 or more to get a $10 value coin graded. Do these coins simply go by owner grading and are good if the buyer agrees?
  8. Well, I've been looking at pics of other pieces of the same years and I'm starting to think these might be modified. Every piece I look up pics of have crisp numbers. All the ones I have the numbers look similar to the one pictured. Has anybody seen ones like this or am I looking at them too hard and trying to find issues not there? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. I have, what I believe, might be a very rare error. If anybody can find information on this please let me know Coin is an 1884 3 cent nickel. It has a double die on the date. I've included pics. On the full coin it just makes the date look a bit fudgy. On the 30x pic it's more evident. The 60x pic is almost too blurry to be of help. Am thinking of having graded but don't know a declared value.
