    Hello, Chris.

We appreciate your support of the NGC Registry. The NGC Registry relies upon the integrity of its collectors to only register coins that they own. As we mentioned in recent emails, it is also common for sellers to advertise/post images of coins that are similar to the ones they are selling. With over 1.6 million registered coins in the NGC Registry and over 30,000 participants, we cannot monitor the buying and selling of all coins in the marketplace.

The transfer process kicks in when someone attempts to register a coin that is already registered to another NGC Registry participant. If a person notifies us s/he owns a coin and someone else enters it into the NGC Registry, then we will remove that coin from the given account and issue a reminder. Thank you.

    Ali,

I do understand that, I would not have contacted you by email if I didn't have proof that the individual did NOT have possession of said coins. His Best in Category sure went up in 2022 compared to 2021.

I did contact those sellers of the coins the individual is using, they still have the coin(s) in possession and are using the numbers that are registered with that coin in their auction page.... so the individual in question is not using a stock photo. I would not have contacted you by email if I didn't have proof that the individual did NOT have possession of said coins. I also asked the sellers to get in contact with you about this individual.

I think NGC should watch this individual very closely.

  2. I'm looking for a proper procedure for reporting a user placing "Phantom Coins" in a registry to boost their score.

A "Phantom Coin" is a coin that is not owned by the user that placed it in a NGC registry. This coin is owned by someone else that doesn't have it registered in NGC. An example is an eBay seller who is selling an NGC rated coin that shows the registration number in the picture or the registered number in the description. .

Currently there is a current user doing this and I have informed a few of the sellers and contacted NGC through there contact page with an example. The response I got from NGC was we can't police this, even though I gave enough evidence to show the individual is doing this.

I would like a more define procedure with what is needed to properly do this so we can stop individuals like this.

Hi, Chris. I took care of the sailboarding duplicate last week. (There were actually duplicate coin ID's in the grading system.) I think you are referring to the 2011 QE II coins...? The description in the grading screen for this coin is "silver." I will ask them to remove that description, as KM# 213 is a silver-plated copper coin. We will remove the slot from the "Silver" dollar set, also. Thanks.

In the future, you can also email registry@NGCcoin.com with this type of feedback; we have a team of staff that processes all the registry emails. Thanks.

    Thanks Ali!

  4. Hey Ali,

Is there a different place to request adjusting categories for errors?

Previously I posted an error after the Solomon Islands were were rearranged.....

"I did request to submit a couple coins that were left out upon this separation. Also I saw that an error in the following category:
    https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive/solomon-islands/solomon-islands/9015/

In that category, line 7 & 8 are the same coin so one of them needs to be removed. The proper one it should say is "Sailboarding"."

There is also another error I found.....

Line 9 in the Solomon Islands Silver $1 (See: https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive-sets/390152/ ) is for the silver plated one on Line 5 of Silvered $1 (See: https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive-sets/390113/ ) as there is no actual "silver" coin, just a plated one in my reference book and websites.

Just trying to make sure they're accurate.

Hello, Chris. We will split out the coins and make new sets. This will take some time as we need to research for accuracy. Our apologies as we will have to start from scratch. Thanks very much.

    Thanks Ali,

    Overall, thanks for doing this.

  6. HI,

I would like to see the Solomon Islands $1 dollar coins separated like they were before. There is a lot of Non-silver (Cupro-Nickel, Silver Plated copper, Titanium, etc) that can have it's own category. There should be 3 $1 dollar categories..... Non-silver, Silver (including gilded) and Gold. Yes there are gold one dollars out there. All three can be MS and Proof for each.

Based on books, websites and such.... I counted 193 coins of all types. Too me that's too many for one category. Some are duplicate designs.... for example... I have a silver rated AND a non-rated CuproNickel 1991 Pearl Harbor 50th Anniversary coin.

Separating this helps to allow those that want to do non-silver coin types, silver types and gold types. Each type brings their own uniqueness and individuality. For some collectors, it allows them a choice of what they can afford.

    Thank you for reading ~Chris

    Hello, Chris.

Please provide any relevant NGC certification numbers, and the team would be happy to research your request. Thanks very much.

    Ali,

Here is a list with link to the coins from your website:

All these coins are silver and I hope this provides enough information.

  8. Would like to see another British Virgin Island Type set added under TYPE SETS.

1985, Type Set, Silver Fish Proof Set coinage

This set is a unique coin set that needs to be recognized. Maybe even include the Cupro-Nickle set as a separate set as well.

    Thank You,

  9. I would like to request a new category in the country of Niue.

    Gold $25, 1.24g, 1994-1998, Proof

I have identified 5 coins (and there could be more) that follows:

1994 John F. Kennedy, 1996 H.M.S. Bounty, 1996 Protect Our world, 1996 Wernher Von Braun and 1998 Olympics in Sydney (for the 2000 Olympics).

I have a 1994 JFK coin you can reference: https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/coins/1989262/

These and others were minted at this specific size (14mm) and weight (1.24 gram) unlike the current Gold $25 coins that are 20.6mm and 7.77 grams. Makes the 1.24 gram coin unique.

    Thank You,

  10. Need a REPUBLIC of GUINEA (different country, not Guinea-Bissau) with a category of silver 200 Francs proof.

I have a 1969 John Robert Kennedy (2855917-006) and your office currently evaluating another coin from 1970 that is also Kennedy. Plus there is a 1969 & 1970 Almamy Samory Toure 200 Francs coins as well.

Niue needs a $25 Gold 1.2gram category. I currently have one coin rated by you (2855917-007) and have a couple raw coins as well in the same category.

    Thanks!

  11. Hey Ali,

Just want to point out some corrections to be made to the new additions to the British Virgin Islands coins.

For the British Virgin Island 1973-1984, Type Set, Standard Proof Set Coinage... you need to add a $5 coin for the following years as each one is different:

    1979 Snowy Egret
    1980 Great Blue Heron
    1981 Royal Tern
    1982 White Tail Tropicbirds
    1983 & 1984 Yellow Warblers

These coins were introduce with the proof sets as the "Bird Fauna" series with the original 6 coins. This basically made a 7 coin proof set with a different $5 coin each year.

For the Queen's Coronation and Silver Jubilee Coinage, 1977-1978, Complete Proof.... You're missing the the Queen's Coronation S$1 coin.

Otherwise these are great new additions that were made! You made my job tougher deciding what send in to get rated! LOL

    Thanks Again!
    Chris

  12. Solomon Islands needs a $1 type set.

Currently there is 5 in your database 3 proofs & 2 MS. There's the 1991 Pearl Harbor Proof, 1992 Coral Sea Anniversary Proof, 1995 F.A.O uncirculated, 2009 Archangel Gabriel Proof and 2017 John F. Kennedy uncirculated.

There is 2 new 2020 (2020 Year of the Mouse (colorized) & 2020 Battle of Britain 80 year Anv.) and a 2021 coming out (Eternal Love Heart Shaped 15 g Silver Antiqued $1 Coin).

Since there is a mixture of Cupro-nickel and silver in this denomination... a type-set would work for the small number I see. Give silver coins a higher value for the same rating to an identical coin to start. I know there are more coins to this island as I have one as we speak that you have not rated.

Given that the "1974 Proof Set" registry set category looks to be a one-off and I have had other Caribbean single year proof sets rejected for registry consideration, the following alternative might make sense for the BVI in particular:

British Virgin Islands, Silver Type Set, 1973-1985, Complete (encompassing coinage from all three silver proof sets, all silver coinage from specimen sets and proof sets, as well as S$10, S$20 and S$25 Franklin Mint issues)

One could easily be constructed for the non-silver issues, as well, if desired.

There is precedent in the registry for Caribbean type sets:

    https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive/british-caribbean-territories/eastern-caribbean-territories/5047/

My opinion of the NON-silver needs its own category. I think that the $1 should be the set and not include higher denominations for this. I'm just looking at the single $1 dollar type set. If we want to show PROOF sets.... then the Jubilee silver type would have precedence over a standard set..... but the fish (circa 1985) would be on top!

  14. I see under British Virgin Islands a "1974 Proof Set". How about changing that to just "Proof Set" and allow any proof set 1973 - 1985 to be entered?

Even better is to have a "Proof Set Type Set" that has one of the regular proof 6 coin sets (1973 -  1978), 7 coin proof sets (1979 - 1984), one of the Silver Jubilee set (1977 all silver), one of the Coronation Jubilee Set (1978 all silver) and one of the Fish Set (1985 2 types standard Proof and silver Proof) in the same set.
