  1. Never mind the negative comments about DCarr or Moonlight Mint Fantasy Overstrikes. I like the Broken Sword Peace Dollar oversrtikes.
  2. WD40 formula may have changed over time. I was told that WD40 had fish oil in it years ago but not sure if that is fact or myth. Have you considered mineral oil ?
  3. I see that Costco Gold Bars sold out in a frenzy. But I'm not a member so NO it wasn't me. And if I do buy gold it won't be Costco gold Ha !
  4. For a key date coin like this it seems unlikely anyone would acid treat or arc damage such a coin. Coin appears to have good detail and looks like it could have been buried.
  5. Yes I'm with you on that. NGC's idea to identify premium coins early on puts it ahead of PCGS in some respects. My point was simply that the idea of rare is used too often with coins.
  6. Those are impressive dimes for sure. However to call a Plus Star coin rare is pushing it dont you think ? Remember that Star coins wre graded long before the Plus option was adopted and many high end Star coins could be regraded
  7. I tend to agree with that but I doubt the TPG's would guarantee the grade with a milk spot problem. I guess I could check the NGC image to see if they show when they were holdered.
  8. Sorry to hear of your medical condition. As I get older I'm more conscious of what could happen to my coins. Even though I've explained what should happen to my collection I still think my heirs are clueless about what to do with them. I have told them the certified coins should be sold at auction and raw stuff to be taken to local trustworthy dealer.
  9. If you can't find the other Pf 70 ikes you could always settle for a 69* Ultra Cameo. Good luck !
  10. NGC is really tough on Ikes but here's my '78-S.
  11. Dont you think it interesting that many silver Eagles and some larger silver proofs get a 70 grade while having milk spots visible with the naked eye. ? I'm puzzled by this.
  12. Here's a couple fully prooflike Jeffersons although one not designated so. A closer look would reveal die scratches and other problems leading to both obverse and reverse dies being polished. As for polished planchets, in 1972 I doubt it and certainly not during wartime mint production except for proofs. Note that the 43-S is deeper prooflike than the 42-S yet not designated so. Just shows to go ya !
  13. My last submission was only reholdering. It was recieved as I tracked it and was not logged in until about 10 days later.
  14. Yes your priorities are in line sir. Will you have to pay duties or will it be gone when you leave ?
  15. Would be interesting to know if the counterstamp has reverse damage like Trade Dollars have. Some Trade Dollars exhibit heavy damage on the opposite side of the counterstamp some so severe that eye appeal is negative to me.
  16. I used to know how to use a keypunch machine. Remember 88 column IBM cards. Well never mind
  17. .750 / .250 copper / nickel same composition used as before. Was there something used to clean planchets maybe sodium compound ?
  18. You should not dabble in this early 19th century stuff without the years of trial and error gathered through experience. Many of the so called mint state coins in NGC and PCGS holders have some friction under that tone. Yours is scrubbed or wizzed with AU detail IMO. Send it back if you can before you remove it from the 2 by 2.
