Burnished Coins
Why is it that the burnished NGC coins aren't labeled as Burnished?
Why is it that the burnished NGC coins I have, like my Silver Eagles aren't idenitfied as "Burnished"? For instance, Proof is identified as PF, and Mint State is identified as MS, so why can't Burnished be identified as BMS? The label dosen't even state "Burnished" on it. My eyes aren't as good as they used to be, so I have a difficult time identifying burnished coins from some mint state coins. I know that it is the surface preperation and they are supposed to look much nicer, but in MS69 both are very similar to me. It seems to be that there are some people who are not in the hobby that have a hard time knowing the differance, especially if they have never heard or seen a burnished coin. Believe me, there are those who have neither seen nor heard of that kind of coin! If a grading coin service can identify differances in other types of coins, then why can't they identify the burnished series?
