My most recent NGC submission - it only took me 3 months to mail it off...

It took me nearly six months to decide what to send, but I have finally convinced myself to submit a few of my better raw pieces for grading. This submission is a bit complex as it spans seven invoices and requires a few special requests. Luckily, my contact at NGC was more than willing to help. As many of you know, I have a fair number of Soho pieces that have retained their original shells. When possible, I have made an effort always to have the shells encapsulated alongside the coin in a multi-coin holder. Doing so allows me to ensure that the shells are less likely to be separated from the coin. After all, it would indeed be a shame to lose such a unique piece of Soho history that has been carefully curated over the last two centuries. In total I am only sending in 17 pieces for grading, but there are 43 items listed on the submission forms when including the shells. On any note, I wanted to share the pieces I am sending in (at least the ones I have pictures of).

Thank goodness for the $500 grading credit from the NGC registry awards last year. That combined with the account credit for my membership will help, but I will still have a relatively substantial bill coming my way once it is all done. I will be sure to post updates as they become available.

Feel free to do a GTG if you feel so inclined.

Wow. Those are quite impressive! The multi holder should be very cool

Absolutely splendid selection of coins and medals @coinsandmedals!  I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor when reading and viewing this post.  Kudos, and best of luck with the submissions.

The encapsulation of the shells along with the items is a brilliant idea!  This is the perfect use of the multi-holder.  I wonder if they'll attach numeric grades to the metal shells?  ;)

@brg5658 and @Revenant you both are far too kind!

To give you a better idea of what this would like, here are a few pictures (excluding the bar codes) of the pieces that NGC encapsulated for me back in 2019. It still amazes me that NGC is willing to take the time and effort to oblige a small-time collector such as myself. Unfortunately, these coins are not of the standard size accommodated by the multi-holders, so it takes some work to get them just right. This next batch should prove even more difficult given the different pedigrees.

Nah. It's very impressive stuff!

Side note, but I took 8 months to mail in a reholder submission because of CoVID and USPS anxiety. Don't feel too bad about 3 months with a very complex submission. lol

Well done sir! Your pictures are amazing and I love the multi-holder layout with the shells. I see why there was a registry award given last year.

@Revenant, you win at eight months. I've had a submission sit on my desk for 4/5 months before, but I eventually get tired of it sitting there and find the time to drop it off.

@Woods020, thank you for your kind words!

Update: NGC has confirmed receipt of the package, but they have not opened it yet. What a sigh of relief.

@Just Bob you always have an open invitation if/when you find yourself in the area! You'll have to bring a few pieces from your collection when you come. You collect the type of oddities that I am not likely ever to see unless they are shared on these boards.

Well, you were lucky you weren't trying to use your membership credit.  I sent my medals in in May. NGC received the mail 5/27/21. Still haven't opened the mail. They said they expect to open it between  6/27 and 6/30. My credit expires 6/16 and NGC accounting says too bad but you will lose your credit and have to pay 100% because they are behind on doing their work of entering submissions in the system. How wonderful after years of being a member.

I feel your pain to a degree. I let a $500 award credit expire last year. It's the price we pay for procrastinating sometimes. lol Lesson learned I'm doing better this year. lol

The history in that submission is really quite staggering. The fact that there are survivors after 200 years in such excellent condition WITH shells is impressive. What a terrific submission and preservation project. Well done:golfclap:

Have you tried calling? I have always found NGC to be very flexible with stuff like this so long as it’s brought to their attention.

It might be worth giving NGC a call. The last time I spoke with someone from accounting they mentioned that they can roll these awards to the following year.

They usually have them expire after a year. I thought about asking about it last year / as it was expiring if they could roll it over, but, honestly, I'm the one that let it expire and they were giving me new $500 credits for NGC and PMG from New awards, so I decided I just needed to take my lumps on that one. lol
