The 2020 deadline has come and gone...

And I'm tired of writing, phew.  :ohnoez:  Now I do not consider myself a natural when it comes to writing, I don't live on facebook or any other social media platform nor do I do much writing for my job so it just is not easy or natural for me the way it is for some.  But I spent a great amount of time over the last month updating descriptions, writing new ones for both individual coins and for the sets themselves.  I am quite sure that none of that will go down as great works of writing art lol but I'm very pleased with the results overall.  Time to take a break from all that and enjoy, soon it will be time to go back and refine what I have done and work on better photos.  Good thing I enjoy this hobby. :)

I find that I quite enjoy writing about things I'm knowledgeable about and which I enjoy, which is probably good considering writing reports is a big part of my job. I 100% agree with you that none of what I write is art - I often find I'm rather self-indulgent, going off on tangents sometimes that I'm sure many don't care about and digging into details. I do a lot of dialing myself back sometimes. lol

I hold the record for the longest report where I work, clocking in at over 2400 pages - but I only had about 400 of that. Most of the rest was automatically generated results / data outputs that had to be documented in an appendix. lol

I hope your sets do well this year! If not, there's next year!

when was the deadline this year?

The deadline for 2020 was on December 4th at 10AM EST.  I believe the awards are scheduled to be announced on January 8th 2021.

Thanks guys.  last couple years I just remember seeing banners about it on the collection pages, I figured maybe they weren't doing it this year for COVID or something

I think they just had their hands full and it was a lower priority item to have a counter. If you use the old site like I do often it may also just be that they're supporting Collector's Society less and less in favor of the new Registry.

I am quite sure that @Revenant is correct and the old registry system interface is way on the back burner.  I just hope that when the new NGC/ANA system is introduced it can address all the issues the new registry has.  Which is not to say that the new system is not better in some ways because it is, just that I hope they are able to take the good from the old and new and create an even better registry experience.

The part that worries me is PMG still has no new registry, just the old one. They still haven't announced any plans or timeline to make one, but they're increasingly dropping the old system. I like the PMG side too - especially with my Zimbabwe hyperinflation set.

I guess for that reason alone the old collector site will have to keep going on for awhile, or maybe that is included in the new NGC/ANA setup that is coming in the future.

is the "https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/WCM" considered  the "old" website?
That's all I use.  My sets are only custom sets, most of my coins are not eligible for any registry or points.

I hope they don't drop that, since I sort of use it to keep track of my stuff $-wise etc.

Yes that is the old system, NGC has said that they plan to migrate the custom sets over once the new, new registry is started.  I too hope that the in progress new system has the functions of the old system, I use excel to track my collection but the NGC system is my backup.  However because I don't know for sure I have been putting all my information into/on the PCGS registry in an abundance of caution just in case.
