Finally My Icelandic Kingdom Era Set Is Complete

I'm the most happiest coin collector in the world right now. I just received my submission results from NGC and was super happy with the out come of the coins I sent in. I only needed two coins to complete this set a 1942 1 Eyrir and a 1942 10 Aurar and both are very hard to find in a grade above 63  that is worthy of sending in. The 42 1 Eyrir is a very common coin but never seen one that would grade above a MS-63.... I had one that would grade higher then a MS-63 put was holding out for something better.... may be a nice red one... but having searched for 16 years now I just thought best to send in the one I have been holding on to for 8 years now ... it has a very nice dark blood red with some  nice luster and toning to it that makes it a beautiful little coin.....And to my delight the graders thought the same thing they gave it a MS-67 Brown....WOW ...It nearly knocked me over.....The highest grade given to any Kingdom Era coin from Iceland......:bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

The other one I needed was a 1942 10 Aurar that was make out of a Zinc alloy and any one that is aware of how difficult zinc coin can be to find in nice MS condition will know  the searching involved to find one never mind the fact that this coin had a low mintage  of 2 million would be very hard indeed. Well after another many years of looking I finally found one that was worth sending in...It has a small planchet flaw but very nice luster with very little dark wood grain running threw the coin itself. It came back a MS-63 Very Very happy with the grade ...There is one graded higher that is owned by my friend Siggi in Iceland.   I had upgraded four more coins to my set A 1925 1 Krona to a MS-65..... A 1942  25 Aurar to a MS-63.... A  1923 10 Aurar to a MS-64  and addition to these coins I also found another 1933 25 Aurar that came back a MS-62 and also a 1925 2 Kronur  came back a MS-62.

Well this is my happy day.....:acclaim::acclaim::acclaim:

OH.....Forgotten to Thank NCS and NGC......Thank You....:bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

My congratulations also on the grades you got. They are a reflection of a discriminating eye, and in particular your eye. It's just nice to have NGC agree with your assessment. BTW, my daughter is getting married and wants to have her wedding in Iceland. It seems that I will be traveling to Iceland in October of 2020. Have you been there before? Gary

Sounds like the set was complete a while ago and some things just needed to be graded. Congrats and the grades and on the fact that they're now a complete NGC-graded set. :)

well done! So what's your next objective? Any sets in the works?

Thank you......I'm still working on my Icelandic Republic coinage 1946 to date. But i have been contemplating going back to U.S. coinage ...maybe a AU-53-58  type set of 18 and 19 century coins.....Love the early stuff ..... But very pricey

How to see the pictures ?  I clicked through to your name but I believe that was limited to this journal.  Vikings?  Thanks

I have never added a link to the journals before hope it works.

I'm not sure if I was doing this right so I'm just going to tell you to go to the registry for coins then world sets then Iceland then complete Kingdom era 1922 to 1942 . Mine is the Robertsson collection.

I did put in a link but when I clicked on to it the page came up as if it was from my account where I was able to make changes to the set...I guess it was because it was on my laptop....Thanks again for your help.

So do you like having multiples / duplicates for series like this that are favorites of yours or had you picked up several over time in the search for one worth grading and now you'll sell the others?

Well its pretty much both ....ones I like as well as trying to upgrade to a better coin in the series. I have like three 1925 2 Kronur in ms-62, 63 and 64.... I have two 29 2K in 65 and 66 I have four 1925 1 Krona in MS 62,63,64,65.. I have like four 1929 1 Krona in MS as well... Yes many duplicates.... Beside from collecting I'm  hoping to put together a little book about Icelandic coins from this time period and I have found a few new varieties as well as a few die state with the numbers in the date being re-punched twice as the dies was being used. The Copenhagen mint used dies with the last two digits of the date missing and when it came time to use these dies they would us a number punch to add the date to the die and that is why you will see such difference in the dates for those years. Well I may sell some of them in the future..... Maybe... Not sure  But I'm aways open to a good offer.
