Back Again For Keeps

I used to frequent the NGC site about 8 years ago.  Back then I had a different handle.  I just found my old journal entries and they are interesting reading as I see the things that concerned me back then.  I will be gradually adding new content to the site as a thought or two strike.  In the interim, glad to be back and happy to see some folks from that time are still here.

To make a long story short Revenant, I retired in February of last year and moved east, from California.  One thing I wanted to do was become very active in the hobby, at the club level.  So I joined PAN, ANA, and my local club WPNS.  I have since volunteered at PAN shows and will be volunteering at the NMS in Pittsburgh.  I had abandoned the NGC site back in 2012, or thereabouts, and assumed my old account was long gone.  I signed up, with a new account so I could create an inventory of my slabbed coins. I saw that old journal entries were still viewable, found mine, and the rest is history.  The Beaw's Den is now Mokie's Den.

I have been fairly active on the ANA site,  you can find me there with folks like Longstrider and CoinsbyGary, etc.   Thanks for Asking.

Interesting. I know that my account, for lack of a better word, was "split" when they switched over to the new system into "Revenant" and "Revenant1." I asked and they merged the old and new accounts for me and gave me my original name back (didn't like the "1" much). They also did this for all the other old forum users that ended up with their accounts split like that. If you can show that the old "Beaw" account is really yours they might be able to merge the old journals into your new one / new account. (I emphasize MIGHT here. This is pure speculation on my part based on abilities they've shown in the past. I don't know if this is actually something they can / will do in this case). Of course, that assumes that you'd want them merged, but it's a thought.

Congrats on the retirement. I hope you've been enjoying it.

I think I will pass on asking for that kind of effort.  I can still look at my old stuff and enjoy, or be horrified by, my old musings.

I will just start anew, see where it takes me.   Retirement actually takes some getting used to, there is a lot of time to fill but I am working on it.   (:

Welcome back to the fold! I remember when you moved to California and announced that your collecting activities would be seriously curtailed. I felt kind of sad for you that day. Today you are more than just coming back into the NGC fold so let me warmly welcome you back to numismatics! You're good people and I look forward to conversing with you on both the NGC and ANA blog pages!

You said that very well. I had no idea you were a member him then. My page says the same 2012. But I was more interested in the ANA. I have considered making this my home. But I do owe a debt to my friends at the ANA. I'm still activated but times and things change. I do like it here very much. Who knows time will tell. I'm glad your here along with the others. Enjoy Mike

Thanks Mike, after our recent problems with wannabe hackers at ANA, this seems like a much safer place with all the same social benefits.  Later, Mokie
