Yesterday i acquired the one and only 1 oz BU MS70 libertad for the year 2000.

The 2000 BU 1 Onza MS70 is the only MS70 graded for that year. It was also the 3rd MS70 to be graded since the series started in 1982 and there wouldn't be another libertad graded MS70 for another 10 years until 2010 when 1 more hit the grade. By the beginning of 2011 there were only 4 1oz BU libertads that made the perfect grade of MS70 and only 7 more would attain perfection in 2011. In 2012 190 received the perfect grade.

You would think that the oldest mint in the world would consistantly put out better quality coins but i can tell you they actually do. If you take a look at their quality with their proof coins, they have consistantly received PF68 to PF70 since 1986 when they started producing them. The BU strikes on the other hand did not fair as well. You can open a mint sealed roll for the first time and each coin looks as though they went through a hellish process prior to being sealed up. It can be assumed that the coins were allowed to abbraid with one another causing bag marks, dings, gouges and scratches not to mention the horizontal scratches and weak strikes that took place throughout the 1980's. The 1990's started to see better strikes and handling of the coins so the grades atarted to climb and reach MS69 for the first time and in 1997 there were the first 2 MS70s graded by NGC.

Getting the 2000 MS70 for my registry set was an absolute treat and i won't call myself the owner ofbthe coin as i am only the custodian of it.
