So far So good...

The new website for NGC.. I like it so far. Was having a little bit of difficulty in the beginning, with loading etc, but seems it is flying low, and rising. (kinda like gold)Anyway, I seem to be getting the hang of it, and can offer no suggestions. Good move so far. Have to inspect several areas yet. Thanks NGC Capt. ALL NEWLY GRADED COINS in registry, except for those with no slots

GONNA BE A LONG TIME TIL I ADD ANOTHER COIN Well, they are all in the pot. About 14 of them were without slots, so I will have to get on my knees and beg Amy to get me some slots and new sets. I know they are backed up with requests, as mentioned before but I have a bunch of orphans that want to join the party. Enjoy looking. I will clean up descriptions and pictures as time permits. (this is like painting the Golden Gate, never finnished.) Happy coining Capt. Brian and Helen The

Work, Work, Work!

Man, I'm getting a cramp from typing... Photos are driving me to the nuthouse, but I keep finding the mistakes I am making,so getting easier and quicker at adding coins to the registry. With working, and fending off tropical storms, chores and a few etc's, I hope to have all the coins entered by Sunday evening... Very happy with NGC's effort to find all the info I need to know all there is to know about these coins, each has a pedigree and a wonderful history, from artwork to the path each c

Customer or victim? Client or dupe? Collector or mark? Investor or fool?

Am I a product of a good home, trusting or just plain stupid? Have any of you folks been 'taken' by your trusted coin dealer? What did you do? What can someone do.I sure would like some feedback here. Some of my collection has been obained, I think, from con men who scammed me into thinking certain coins were worth much more than they were. Just back from the F.U.N Show in Orlando again

Eye candy of the 3rd kind.. Hello again: Just back from the Orlando FUN exibit. This is a local club, not as big as the main show in January,or the one coming up in Boston in August but I had a lot of fun and learned a bit with my short available time there. I met with PCGS people, very nice, but seems I can get precisely what I want with staying with NGC and it is less paperwork too. I accept into my orphanage, for now, only NGC and PCGS, although, I guess some of the other grading comp

15 of 29

I have run into a logjam. I want the others. APB on them. I am attempting to get all of the 29 1987 G$10 MS 70's. There are 5 from PCGS and 24 from NGC, I have 15 of the NGC's and none of the PCGS'ers. So, if any of you kind folks see one, let me know if you would please. Capt. 1829 Quarter Eagle ($2.5) 3004 minted AU55

Great collector coin up for sale, does not fit my group I have for sale, the 1829 Quarter Eagle I had graded... Looking to sell or trade it. I am looking for some 1997 Platinum $100 Eagles PF70. Or anything over $15000. I would take also some 1997 Gold $50 Eagles PF70's. I would want at least an even trade. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 20th Anniversary Edition Silver American Eagle Collection

The first 20 years of the most beautiful coin in the world. The American Silver Eagles I am working diligently completing my 'polishing up' of my sets, pictures, and discriptions of my collections. It will take a while. I know there are some pictures here that need to be cleaned up, and I will get to it ASAP, but enjoy as I have them for now. I also just aquired 42 more ASE's for my stash, and I just can't get enough. The last 42 are not grading coins, just believe in silver. HAVE FUN

Gold from Europe Plus [Update 6-25-2010]

Smaller gold coins hidden away for a long time Hello again fellow collectors: Well, I was so enthused by the first four coins I had graded as a test grade for the 40 coins I have been hiding for a long time. Got such great results from the first 4, that I am sending in the rest. On the way yesterday, registered mail are 37 gold coins. Austria, Belgium, Canada, Columbia, France, Gr. Brit., Holland/Netherlands, Hungary, Italy, Prussia, Switz., & Russia,. I am really straining at my t

Enjoying NGC

Enjoying the benifits of others knowledge and expertise Hello all: Again I profess to be needing help regarding buying, selling, focusing on numismatics. When I acquire my coins I do not always buy just the ones I want for my "keeper collection" but occaisionally get some for trading or simply selling. If any of you have the time to look over my "stash" [as I call it] and have any advice on a direction I may should take, I am open to suggestions. I just went through a give and take with

Trip to France, nope, to an old drawer

1817A France G20F And look what came up. Had this hanging around for a while, decided to have it graded, and got a pleasant surprise. There was no slot for it, so NGC is looking at my request to add one. I am havin' too much fun looking at this one, Maybe you better take it. I have a small collection of odd gold coins from pre-1927 and many before 1900. Stay tuned, but these are all available. Now I have to figure out how to get in the chat room. 1829 $2.5 Gold...

Hello: want to sell ungraded Capped Head mintage 3403 Hello: Interested in selling 1829 (mintage 3403) $2.5 Quarter Eagle in likely AU-50 or 55 condition. Understand, I am a new collector going on only two years knowledge. I use a grading book and compared to other coins I own of various grades and determine this would grade out at AU50-55. I feel very strongly. My friend who owns it seems to want to grade it, but I feel perhaps we should sell it as is. Will entertain any offers. Than

F U N Show Orlando Fla

You have to see one of these huge coin You have got to see one of these huge coin shows. the Orlando FUN show is I think, the biggest. It is really an education. Most folks are there for the reasons of their owns which which should cause you to move with caution with most transactions. I find that some folks there with the knowledge of the ages, and some just know how to sell. I would think that it is a better place for a person to sell, than for buying, unless you are savvy and really kn

First Strikes

Are "First Strikes" more desireable, and more valuable? I was to understand that even though the "First Strike" [blue label] coins were not from the mints 'first strikes', but the first coins to be graded by the graders during the first month of issue. In addition, I understood, that the 'first few coins' could have clearer images than those struck with worn dies. I am sure the difference is minute, but so is differences between PF/MS 69's to '70's. ANY comment supporting or defacing this

Collecting vs. Investing

What am I? Please tell me, investor or collector. I began "collecting" years ago for an investment stance. Figuing precious metals would increase in value over time. And so they have. Not [as advertised] actually keeping up with inflation. nice increase, but not what one would expect listening to gold and silver sellers. I got together a nice stash 18 years ago, and have sold much of it off to come into graded coins all the while expecting to pawn them off to the first buyer who co
