About this journal

All bullion coins are minted at West Point, NY.  The S mint mark is a scam to make people think they are getting something special, at double, or triple the going price of a real Silver Eagle. In effect, the "S" coin is a phony, and doesn't have a place in the Registry. "Minted at" coins fall into the same category. The label can say anything they want.....even the Sheboygan Mint!

NGC removed the other coins, this one has to go also.

I too laid out hundreds of dollars only to have them erased, such  as the "2000 Millennium" ASE. Another gem that we "had" to have.  They won't pay   those coins we now have to eat.

2009 PREZZIES!

Census or senses report? Hello everyone! A short note about my yearly insanity. I was fortunate enough to enter my Presidential Dollar sets into the Registry in PF 70 UC for 2007 and 2008. As most know that this will put the owner in a #1 set ranking. I have done a bunch of searching through my few resources, and find 2009 may be tough on the PF 70 collectors. The last I heard, about 15% of the (4 coin)sets submitted came back in complete PF 70 (4 coin) sets. If this holds true,

2009 Commemorative Braille Issues

And issues they are! In stock and reserved?Hello everyone!I know you're chomping at the bit for the Mint to release the long awaited pair of 2009 L. Braille Commemoratives.Well, they are going to be a little late. How late will they be, you ask? Over a month past the scheduled release date(3-26) ....so far. They are now saying April 30th for the 2. They have been "in stock and reserved" for a month. What gives with this?I wonder who'll get the first of the run. Will I get my subscribed pair, or

2 Brailles on the way to NGC

It didn't take a blind man to see this! Hello everyone! Just a quick note. I got both Braille Commemoratives this morning, and they will be at NGC tomorrow. Not for anything, but I have already accepted the facts of grading. The uncirculated is MS 69, and the proof is PF 70UC. The uncirculated coin has a lot of tiny dings. It may have too many for even MS68. All that wait, and I got a blem. Oh well....I can always upgrade on ebay for half of what this will cost me. I sent some old

1960 LARGE DATE 1C

Even a 67 would have been great! Hi all! I sent a very nice graded cent to NGC for grading. It was done already by a well known third party grading company. People buy their coins every day! I got it for $2.50. I said to myself.......Self....why not? So I did. I cracked out a 70 and hoped for a 68. Losing 2 grades is to be expected even with a very nice specimen. As you can see, I was wrong. I will have 2 options when I get it in hand. Laugh until I cry, or throw it in the "Goodwill box"

1945 WAS A GREAT YEAR FOR BRITISH PENNIES

It's too bad it never caught on in New Zealand Hi everyone! I got the remnants of the NZ submission back today. The "Environmental Damage" is a vague, but accurate description. Carbon spots, patina, and toning........all products of a less than perfect environment. Well, I got spots. A little black and green in about a dozen places. Am I happy?........NO. Are they my fault?......NO. I should look so good when I reach 64 years of age. I asked about getting them "conserved, but waited

18 is up to 21

Will there ever be 30? Hello all! Thanks to Jaime and Jim, I have been able to add a few more "W" quarters to my set. Will there ever be 30? Who knows.....did they ever grade all 30 with the "W" designation? 1999 silver will be the task.....If I get to 25, I'll be happy. Thanks again, and look through your extras...you might just have the ones I need. P.S. My 1958 proofs are in the mail....NGC forgot to do the imaging, so you'll all have to wait.

10 SILVER EAGLES AND COUNTING?

In 1986, I started an American Silver Eagle set for my son to inherit someday. I started with the MS set and my first coin was purchased from TV sales. After a few years, I was able to start a proof set, and the collection expanded. I have been fortunate enough to maintain these sets through the years, but not without losing coins due to slot eliminations in the Registry. Everyone had to have the 2000 "Millennium" slab. Now it's history. A few others also. Now sets are being created for reverse
