About this journal

All bullion coins are minted at West Point, NY.  The S mint mark is a scam to make people think they are getting something special, at double, or triple the going price of a real Silver Eagle. In effect, the "S" coin is a phony, and doesn't have a place in the Registry. "Minted at" coins fall into the same category. The label can say anything they want.....even the Sheboygan Mint!

NGC removed the other coins, this one has to go also.

I too laid out hundreds of dollars only to have them erased, such  as the "2000 Millennium" ASE. Another gem that we "had" to have.  They won't pay   those coins we now have to eat.

NGC TURNAROUND TIMES!

2009 W SILVER EAGLES?

Could this be the reason? Hello everyone! I was just looking at a few world coins and here's whats for sale in Italy. Only 10,000 minted, so we may have a chance to get a handfull for the W collectors. I didn't check the Chinese site.   I can only imagine. Have a nice day!

My trial set has been graded.

The results are in! Hello everyone! The trial is over. The 8 Sacagawea PF 70 coins I sent to PCGS for crossover are done! You all had your ideas and preferences. My $1,500.00 set is now a little less than $500. I will also lose a #1 Registry set this year. I hope everyone that gripes about the two grading companies, now has a different perspective.   Now you know why PCGS is more expensive than NGC. They have fewer 70s. Not a PF 70 in 8 submissions! A Collector's Dilemma

How would this get graded? Hello everyone! Here is the answer to easing expenses. How do I submit it to NGC? May we never have to decide on this option! God Bless the USA!

2 Brailles on the way to NGC

It didn't take a blind man to see this! Hello everyone! Just a quick note. I got both Braille Commemoratives this morning, and they will be at NGC tomorrow. Not for anything, but I have already accepted the facts of grading. The uncirculated is MS 69, and the proof is PF 70UC. The uncirculated coin has a lot of tiny dings. It may have too many for even MS68. All that wait, and I got a blem. Oh well....I can always upgrade on ebay for half of what this will cost me. I sent some old

A little good news!

This will at least please someone.one coin, one Hello fellow collectors.....friend and foe. Like it or not.......some members of the Society have chosen the member they feel has the most need. I honored that consensus and passed on the funds. Like it or not, we may save a member. We are all here for the same reason. No members, no Society. I want to thank the members that stepped up to the challenge. I'd like to thank all that emailed me with support, ideas, or actual donations. If th

Whoaaaaaa!

I cannot believe any of this! Hello to all! I cannot believe a act of kindness or generousity is so poorly taken. I see some members cannot read, and the others didn't comprehend what they read. I am not selling coins using the Society as a vehicle. I donated a few coins for a cash donation. I stood up and offered all I could. Another member stands up and commits. Members helping members. Have I lost someone yet? I can put coins on Ebay, Bonanzle, Craig's list, Amazon, or other venue.

CLARIFICATION

Deal or no deal? Hello everyone! Just to clear up the fine print. The few coins I offered in my last Journal are NOT for sale! I have an Ebay account. I buy and sell there. The coins were, and are being offered as a donation for a fixed sum. I offered them to Society members first. I will give up my coins if another member gives up the cash. A fair gesture? If a member wants to help, it is up to them. My coins are just something to negate the thought of a charity thing. If no mem

I have made up my mind as to one alternative.I have 1 of 2 sets which I can offer for sale to help a fellow collector through a tough time.I have a 2009 Territorial quarter set in NGC PF 70 UC. All

Economic Depression?

That's exactly what it is! Hello all! It is on a somber note I address the Society. The economy has struck the heart and sole of our collecting society. Being a new(and little guy), I can do a lot of the newer coins in lesser grades. I can get results and complete sets quicker and cheaper than those seeking perfection. I come now to a depressing situation. A few collectors, more serious and committed to the hobby, than I, have fallen on hard times. These aren't people like me with o

2009 Commemorative Braille Issues

And issues they are! In stock and reserved?Hello everyone!I know you're chomping at the bit for the Mint to release the long awaited pair of 2009 L. Braille Commemoratives.Well, they are going to be a little late. How late will they be, you ask? Over a month past the scheduled release date(3-26) ....so far. They are now saying April 30th for the 2. They have been "in stock and reserved" for a month. What gives with this?I wonder who'll get the first of the run. Will I get my subscribed pair, or

A MILLION THANKS!

I couldn't be more pleased. Hello all! A quick note of thanks for all of the replies on my Canadian snowflake. I was starting to search when I was inundated with so many helpful replies from all the great members in this Society. I now understand that I can get it graded, but there is, at present, no slot for this "embellished" coin. I have Sacagaweas...I know about a "no points" coin. Just the same, I now own one. I also want to thank everyone in unison. THANK YOU ALL! I find

Canada.......eh?

Here's what I get for impulse shopping. Hello again everyone. I just got carried away and bought a coin that caught my eye. It's a Canadian Snowflake? I dunno......my French is lousy too. It's a $20 silver proof with 7 Swarovski crystals. One clear in the center of the reverse, and 6 amethyst crystals in the snowflake. It is supposedly .9999 silver? Mintage is 7500. I need some Canadian coin expetise on this one. 1.) How big is this coin in diameter? 2.) What does it weigh

A picture is worth.........?

Just because you own the coin doesnt mean....... Hi everyone, I recently discovered something new. NGC certification verification has images. Nice images of the coin you are checking. NGC now images every coin that is certified and processed. That has wonderful meaning to those that require adequate proof beyond a reasonable doubt. This is amazing off-site data storage. The insurance companies will have to pay up now on coin thefts. The one thing I liked about the images, is that I

Hey! Ya never know

Beauty is in the eye of the NGC holder? Hello all! Just a quick note, and scan, of my first PF 70 submission. It's the 1986 Statue of Liberty 50c. It wasn't such a bad deal. It cost me $5.50 in an airtite. Another $20 bucks for shipping and grading. Voila......a $106.25 beauty. My Abes made MS&PF 70 also. Am I happy?....you betcha. Well, I just thought I'd share some good news with everyone. Thanks NGC, Amy, Lisa, and Sarah? I know there's a lot more! Good luck everyone

MY PF 70 TRIAL SET HAS BEEN SUBMITTED

To be, or not to be? We'll have the answer shortly! Hello fellow collectors! Well, I went and did it. I sent out 8 of my Sacagawea PF 70 set to PCGS for crossover grading. It may take up to 30 days for the results. They don't have the turn-around times like NGC. My PCGS membership......yes, I am a member there too, allows me 8 free submissions. I took advantage of all 8. I know there are some that do not like having PCGS slabs in the Society's Registry. I bought the coins for one

RIGHT FROM THE MINT

2009 may be a disaster for the Silver Eagle? Hi all.....again! I just looked again at the Mint website, and took a pair of paragraphs of their Eagle page. It is as follows: American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin "Production of United States Mint American Eagle Silver Proof and Uncirculated Coins has been temporarily suspended because of unprecedented demand for American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins. Currently, all available silver bullion blanks are being allocated to the American Eagle

Ya gotta speak up!

He who hesitates..........remember that one? Hi all! Just a quick note tonight. I mentioned when I upgraded my 2008/07 Eagle error to a 70, I had the MS 69 for sale. Thanks to you members or your friends, I was fortunate enough to sell it promptly. Unfortunate for Tim, though. I am sorry. Thanks to being a society member, there is a prestige and it seems that now I have a small following. All I wanted to say is. If I have something offered from an upgrade to my sets, if you want it...

NGC TURN AROUND TIMES

In by 9 out by 5? Hello all! I just got the shipping notice from NGC on my last submission. Turn around times are phenomenal. My 1959 proof set did well. A 1986 Statue of Liberty half, made PF 70 UC. I paid 6 bucks for it raw! Both Abes took a 70. I will have them before a reputable dealer gets mine back to me since 2-12. So much for presales. I also got straight PF 69s on the Prezzies. Not too shabby. I also did a better scan of my 1911 D Lincoln cent. I have an extra 2008/07

2009 TERRITORIAL QUARTER SET

ALL 12 COINS AND THE PICS TO PROVE IT! Hello everyone! It took some string pulling, but if you want to see them, I have all 12 of the Territorial quarters(with pics). I missed being #1 because I had to wait until I had photo proof. I could have thrown anything in there and obscured it, but I think not! The 1st, 12 coin Territorial set. to be shown in the NGC Registry.......Enjoy all!

Today's another milestone! 400

An impossible dream? Hi everyone! I have been so busy with looking for a new place to live, I have neglected my latest purchases a bit. My original goal was to make it to 500th ranking in the NGC Registry. My other was to acquire the MS 69, 2008/07 Silver Eagle. My third(and actual prority)was to add the 1995 W Silver proof to complete my original set(PF 69). Thankfully I have accomplished my goal for the year! As always, the competition gets tougher the higher you get. I recently

DON'T EVER CUSS NGC

Free security is hard to pay for. Hello all....again! My computer crashes, burns, gets stolen with my coins, decides to elope, or other, heres what makes NGC Registry so great. I joined the Registry for one main reason. SAFETY! With safety comes security. Where else can you register every graded coin you own (NGC/PCGS)? They let me do it for free......yes free! If everything was to be gone in the morning, I could go to the NGC Registry site, log in, and download every registered coi

Upgrading is the way to go!

Why is one little number so big? Hi everyone! I am finally reaching a plateau in collecting. I started with ASEs in NGC PF 69. I added the MS set in 69. I have been very fortunate to have been able to keep up to date. A few good things, and friends, have happened in the last 8 months. I have been able to add a set or two in PF 70. I have been lucky(with help) to complete my "W"eird 30 coin quarter set and start another. Now I have reached a plateau. I have some nice sets. The older

SAFE/PIPE/INTERCEPT SHIELD?

2 simple ways to protect your coins. Hi everyone! This will probably upset most. Bring a smile to some, and Get a few to actually do something. Method #1) Put all your coins in Intercept Shield boxes. Most people don't know what they are. Even most collectors. Leave the boxes on a bookshelf in you den or living room. No one will even be curious enough to ask. Method #2) Put all your coins in a tube, pipe, or heavy safe. Put them into a small room as a den playroom etc. Replace

Precious metals and gemstones.

Bullion isn't always salty! Hi everyone! I guess it's my turn for an opinion. Gold is not always gold. The IRS says it has to be pure for an IRA. Silver too! No sterling or 90% coin silver. It has to be .999 fine. If you have 3 or 4 pounds of 18k gold lying around, you ain't broke. You cannot write it off though. In order to write off precious metals (bullion) as an IRA you must to give it to someone to hold. You are not allowed immediate or easy access to it. I guess I'll have to fin
