About this journal

All bullion coins are minted at West Point, NY.  The S mint mark is a scam to make people think they are getting something special, at double, or triple the going price of a real Silver Eagle. In effect, the "S" coin is a phony, and doesn't have a place in the Registry. "Minted at" coins fall into the same category. The label can say anything they want.....even the Sheboygan Mint!

NGC removed the other coins, this one has to go also.

I too laid out hundreds of dollars only to have them erased, such  as the "2000 Millennium" ASE. Another gem that we "had" to have.  They won't pay   those coins we now have to eat.

THANK YOU

It is possible after all. Thanks to the powers at NGC. I am happy with the correction, and pleased with the communications and time period it has taken. Sorry to snap at what some think as meaningless, but I do still have a flicker of passion for my sets. Competitions are just that. I compete against the fines collectors and friends in the world. I am proud to have the sets I have, and the friends that have come along with them. I am going back into my little corner until I am perplexed aga

ALL IS STILL THE SAME

I registered 8 coins and lost my slot and NGC lost my second set Cleveland. I know now why I collect coins. It's for the anguish NGC has put me through for these few years. I registered my new Presidential proofs(both sets) and had top slots. Now I am out, and they have misplace the second Cleveland that I registered. I hope no one else goes through this . Every year is the same thing. Happy Collecting? To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added be

FOUR COINS/THREE SLOTS ?????

Where's our 24th President? I have four new 2012 Presidential Proof coins graded by NGC, and only three slots to put them in? WAKE UP!!! I registered them all anyway. Happy Collecting everyone! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

MY EAGLES HAVE LANDED

100% was the goal Hello everyone, I just added the last two MS Eagles to my collection. I now have both sets at 100%. Here's hoping that 2012 will bring us only 2 coins. Did somebody say, 26th Anniversary set? I'm outta here. Happy Collecting

2011 SILVER EAGLES

Bah humbug! Hi everyone, I have just completed the 2011 ASE set. It's amazing how it took 6 coins to get it done. Two of the coins have no mint mark? They just claim to be minted at San Francisco and West Point. Funny how the others have a corresponding mint mark as to where they came from. A few more years of this and I'll go back to sports cards. I guess the economy is booming everywhere else. My pockets are so much more empty now! I still have the best PF69 set, so I shouldn't complain

2011 SACAGAWEA PROOF DIE CRACKS???

Is it really a PF70ER? Hello everyone, I just received a 2011 Sac PF70ER in the mail, and was examining it when I found 2 tiny die cracks between 7 and 8 O'clock on the true reverse of the coin. The coin is definitely a 70, but I wonder if any more of you have noticed this. With the relatively small number of 70s, as compared to other years, might they qualify as a "mint error" also? If you have one or more, I'd like to know. On another hand, are any of you sending in coins to be graded, a

It's back again!

There is a coin God afterall? Hello everyone, As some of you know, a Presidential set of mine had moved from it's original spot. I asked NGC to look into it as I had entered the coins all on the same date. Well, it took a little time, but alas, my set is back where it started. I'd like to thank J. Garcia and those responsible for investigating and repairing this modification. I am happy to see my set back, and still glad that all of us can work things out. I never expected to achieve a

Modifications?

One day it's there....next day it's gone! Hello everyone, I lost a set of my new 2011 Presidents to a modification by NGC. I had several coins for the slots that I entered on 1-28. I entered them all and shortly my top set was down on the list. I now have one coin listed on 2-4-11. I didn't do it. I had my sets in order and left them, but now they do not reflect it. Has anyone else had their sets "modified" without actually doing it themselves? I know another member has had it happen too

COIN FOR SALE?

How can you pass up a good deal? Hello everyone, As some of you know, I am trying to sell my collection and move on to other things. I have a few graded coins which are not entered into the Registry, but are of great numismatic and monetary value. I spoke with the person at Heritage Auctions today, and asked if they'd either be interested in buying, or taking on consignment, one of these coins. They said that the lack of interest in New Zealand coins would not be worth buying, nor offering

EARLY RELEASES PRESIDENTS

Some are blue labels and some are........ Hi everyone, It takes a bit of getting used to the new ER, blue labels. They do look great, and set the coin off with a brighter color. I also got my multiholders today, but alas, they are that same old boring burgundy. It says ER on the label, so I guess it's OK. I but the coin, and the label only states what's inside. I see the minor coins look great in the new label too! May this trend continue and everyone get a set to put away. Thanks to the

A CLOSE SECOND PLACE

PCGS is catching up! Hi everyone, Remember when you wanted to add a few PCGS coins, but they weren't available yet? A complete set of some would take almost the full year. I see PCGS has 2011 proofs already graded and they are just barely out of the Mint. I am fortunate to have a few sets, and now I can enter them with the others as they come out. No more waiting months. It seems to make it easier for scanning and entering also. I would love to have a few PCGS sets in 70, but at the pr

CERTIFICATES CAME TODAY!

It's amazing what happened last year. Hey everybody, Just a short note to let everyone know that their certificates will be arriving shortly. I was amazed when I opened the envelopes. I didn't realize I had added more sets this past season. Pending the sale of most of my collection, I will not fare as well next year. Although the competition is great, I want to buy a home and relocate. My collection will become what the investment was meant for. I will miss the rush every year, and will

IN THE RIGHT ORDER?

Two days of modifying for naught? Hi everyone, I just spent the last two days adding and modifying my sets, and I was just in the registry and my Sacagawea sets are now out of the order I put them in. Does this happen to you? Maybe the computer does it. It makes me feel like I could just toss them in randomly and negate any pride I have. At least, they didn't disappear altogether. Have a great week. Sets are coming out too fast for my liking. Good Luck! SUNDAY...I SEE I DO NOT HA

2011 Presidential sets

How many did you get? Hi all, I am wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the 2011 proof Presidents? I am thinking a 70 set is going to be tough. Let me know if you have sets in for grading? Thanks To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Out of one year and off to the next. Hello everyone, It's been a hectic year for me. I spend as much time in the hospital as I do with my coins. I have, however, added a few upgrades, and just tonight finished my #1 2007 Complete Proof set. I wish everyone a prosperous coming year. I will try to keep my competetive sets at the top, even if they are for sale. Have a great evening, and hope to see you all here, and writing in the journal, for a long time to come. Best Wishes, John

THANKS TO ALL !

So many friends, so little time. Hello all! I am overwhelmed by everyone's response. Friend and foe, alike. I have to add a few answers to everyone that asked for certain coins, or sets. If my collection sells before the Registry Awards, I will release everything for you to compete. I do not wish to break up this collection. The quicker I liquidate, the quicker I can get other plans rolling. To my friends out of the US, I wish I could sell to you, but customs would flag the collection

I'M OUTTA HERE !

I have held on too long. Hello everyone, Hopefully 2010 will be my last year of competing in the Registry. I have had fun, and met a lot of nice friends. My sets are as good as I am going to make them. It is time to liquidate and persue other venues. I will hold one Sac proof set, a Prezzie proof, and my Proof Silver Eagles. My MS Eagle set, and the New Zealand Pennies will stay also. Everything else will go.....hopefully. It's been a blast, and a challenge, to get as far as I have. A ne

OF COURSE!!

Just when I thought things were going good! Hello everyone, I haven't entered into conversations or added anything significant to my collection. I just got a prime coin back, and wouldn't you know it. The Registry is down. Oh well.....I can wait. Congratulations to Todd for his diligence, and persistent attitude. It does pay off! Well, I am off to find a few more winners for the December deadline......Planning ahead! Good luck and happy collecting to all!

I'M BAAAAAACK!!!

I love the way coins are graded too. Hello everyone.......oldies,goodies, and newbies You shouldn't worry about the crappy silver Eagles. There are way too many to mean anything. I have them, but only so I can say that, truthfully. If you think they grade thouands of coins per week, and every coin is scrutinized by at least 3 graders and all use a 5x anything.......I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. HOW NAIVE ARE YOU PEOPLE??? We collect coins as a hobby. They grade coins as a busin

2010 PREZZIES ARE HERE!

I have some nice coins, but lousy imaging! Hi All! At least I tried and didn't obscure my set. My scanner is on vacation. It should be back today if I can get te error message to go bck to where it came from. My all-in-one did it, but what a lousy image for coins. Not to worry. I will somehow get up and running to get these beauties redone and looking better. I have my Canadians to image also.........whatta week this will be. Thanks to the powers that put my sets up front! 2009 REGISTRY AWARDS

I did very well Hello everyone! Just a note of thanks to friends and foes alike. Here's to the people that made my sets what they are. Some won an award......some didn't. I will try to maintain the standards of collecting and improve in 2010. Thanks to Sam,Todd,Don,and Rene for input and support. Dean too....sorry! Thanks to NGC for doing this, and recognizing Society members for their achievements last year. My certificates made me realize how lucky I really am to be a part of this.

GUILTY!!!

I'm one of them too.......to a point Hi all,     You guys are right. I have said it all along. Dealers can have any set they want. They only have to pay for the 69 and 70 grades in the proofs.....how sweet is that? I give up trying to compete with NGC dealers. I finally went to PCGS for honest grades. I may lose to an NGC set, but my coins are still mine, and I'll put them up against the finest grades in any other slab. Yes, my sets have blue slabs in them now. I used to hate PCGS too.

GOING FEDEX???

What a ripoff! Hello everyone! I guess you knew my two Lincolns were coming. FedEx is a joke. I had my subscriptions, expressed from the Mint facility (Indianapolis), and it took 13 days. I can walk almost that far in 13 days. The shipment went by my area, and went to MA. It sat there for the weekend. Then it took two days from their terminal to me. Did I get a refund on shipping? What do you think? Did I cancel my subscriptions with the Mint? What do you think? My seven day return
