About this journal

All bullion coins are minted at West Point, NY.  The S mint mark is a scam to make people think they are getting something special, at double, or triple the going price of a real Silver Eagle. In effect, the "S" coin is a phony, and doesn't have a place in the Registry. "Minted at" coins fall into the same category. The label can say anything they want.....even the Sheboygan Mint!

NGC removed the other coins, this one has to go also.

I too laid out hundreds of dollars only to have them erased, such  as the "2000 Millennium" ASE. Another gem that we "had" to have.  They won't pay   those coins we now have to eat.

One's a loser! Hi all, I know there's a place to guess the grade, but I want the average members to participate. One of these pennies is a loser. You tell me? Thanks

YESSS!!!

2008 was a great year for me. I have only been a paying member for a little over 2 months. I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have been asked why I do so many Sacagawea sets? Why don't you do some other types of sets? Now I can answer both questions definitively. I never knew about the competition amongst members in the Registry. I do, however, love to compete. I also like to win.....sometimes. I tried to accomplish my goal of having one of the best sets available anywhere. I h

Ya gotta speak up!

He who hesitates..........remember that one? Hi all! Just a quick note tonight. I mentioned when I upgraded my 2008/07 Eagle error to a 70, I had the MS 69 for sale. Thanks to you members or your friends, I was fortunate enough to sell it promptly. Unfortunate for Tim, though. I am sorry. Thanks to being a society member, there is a prestige and it seems that now I have a small following. All I wanted to say is. If I have something offered from an upgrade to my sets, if you want it...

Whooooooopeeee!

I got mine! WOW x 2! Lucky enough to get the new Abe. These (2) will definitely find there way to NGC. Good luck to everyone that submits theirs for grading too! This is the first time I have actually purchased a coin on the first day of issue. What's the next one? The mail lady loves me!!

Whoaaaaaa!

I cannot believe any of this! Hello to all! I cannot believe a act of kindness or generousity is so poorly taken. I see some members cannot read, and the others didn't comprehend what they read. I am not selling coins using the Society as a vehicle. I donated a few coins for a cash donation. I stood up and offered all I could. Another member stands up and commits. Members helping members. Have I lost someone yet? I can put coins on Ebay, Bonanzle, Craig's list, Amazon, or other venue.

What's in a grade?

My Lancaster is nicer than your Braille Hello everyone! I just got my Canadian coin back, and is it a beauty? WOW! It is so nice, I can say it is even nicer than MY PF69 Braille. Only 19 more to make a set, but anything is possible. To those that questioned my intensity with the Sacagawea sets, I say......I have diversified! Canadian proofs match anything we do. They even do holograms and pure gold (plated) cameos. Most of these are very limited also. Mintage on most is less than

WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?

and you doubt an NCG grade! Hello everyone! I just got this nice 1965 NZ penny back from PCGS. I sent 4 in the OGP. Three graded as MS64, and this. I'll leave it to the experts. I personally think they blew this one!

WHAT A WAY TO START THE WEEK

I know times are bad, but c'mon!!! Hello everyone! Well, to start things off, my mail lady left a note in the box Saturday morning. It said she missed me at home. She did? I was up at 06:00 and waited for her until noon. Zip, zilch, nothing, nada! She never showed. I have to wait until Monday morning! It was only a few commemorative coins for my sets from 2001-2003. They have never been opened, and they should get good grades. I got them and opened the package.........2 out of the

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES

In by 9:00, out by 5:00 Hello everyone! At a little after 09:00 this morning, NCS sent my NZ 1d KM-13A and "broken wing" 6d to NGC for grading. They were received by NGC, and labeled as what they were. Around 17:00(5:00PM), my second "British flan",(KM-13A)disappeared. GONE!!! It is now just another plain old "run of the mill" 1945 penny. As one can see a "broken wing" variety, it may get graded as such. My 1934 NZ, 3d, uncirculated(out of a roll), double die crack, was body bagged. Ex

WE MUST BE CLOSING IN ON JUDGEMENT DAY?

I never thought about this side of the coin. Hello All, A few last minute emails from friends and competitors alike. Thanks for wishing me luck, and to those, and everyone, I wish you all the best this year. A few brought up a category in which we do not enter, yet still get graded. It's the Journals. I answered........What??? With all that went down this last year, I'd probably be last in consideration. I do believe some changes were made after all. Maybe the journals did their part?

WALMART IS THE PLACE!

The mint works in strange and mysterious ways. Hi Collectors! I personally could care less about the new coins. I have had a few ask me about them , and I've told them that our(upstate NY)banks will not order the new coinage. They don't need it. The only place I have received anything new is WalMart. Yup!!!!! the biggest cash flow in today's economy. NGC has a paragraph about it too. As most of you know, I am hot on the proof Sacs. These were to replace the paper note in 2000-2001

Upgrading is the way to go!

Why is one little number so big? Hi everyone! I am finally reaching a plateau in collecting. I started with ASEs in NGC PF 69. I added the MS set in 69. I have been very fortunate to have been able to keep up to date. A few good things, and friends, have happened in the last 8 months. I have been able to add a set or two in PF 70. I have been lucky(with help) to complete my "W"eird 30 coin quarter set and start another. Now I have reached a plateau. I have some nice sets. The older

TWO NEW MS EAGLES?

One Eagle is "Struck at West Point" and has no W. The other is struck at West Point, and has none either? All gold and silver is minted at West Point. Nowhere else. Period! Top in grade

The first in PF 69, but still #1 Hi all, I just got my 1st 1987 Loon proofs back. So far they top the chart. This isn't the greatest, but they do look good! Only a PF 70 can beat them. I'll take that seeing as how it is so hard to get any Canadian issue graded as perfect. I have more Canadian coins at NGC, but I don't even have to hope for a 70. All 69s are just fine. I have enough "perfect" coins to add this year. I can live with my lovely Canadians. Thanks to everyone that told me

Today's another milestone! 400

An impossible dream? Hi everyone! I have been so busy with looking for a new place to live, I have neglected my latest purchases a bit. My original goal was to make it to 500th ranking in the NGC Registry. My other was to acquire the MS 69, 2008/07 Silver Eagle. My third(and actual prority)was to add the 1995 W Silver proof to complete my original set(PF 69). Thankfully I have accomplished my goal for the year! As always, the competition gets tougher the higher you get. I recently

TODAY IS THE DAY.......FINALLY!

This bubble is subject to bursting at any moment! Hello all! I eventually found the Territories I misplaced. I added them to the slots, and BAM!!! The elusive 500 has been reached. Is this the pinnacle? The acme of my collecting? No, just a plateau. I have more to do. I have, however, reached the goal I set when I joined the Registry. The"fortunate" 500! Thanks to friends and members! Actually, I never expected this so quickly. The economy has me worried about continuing at

TODAY IS MY CLAIM TO FAME DAY!

A "PERFECT" 11? Hello everyone! WOW! Are sets going crazy today. NGC has released a lot of the new proofs, and everyone is buying them up to complete their sets. Me too! I have gone almost a whole year, waiting to see what was happening to my "Perfect 10" Sacagawea sets". I never figured on the 2009 to be a "Sacagawea". However.......it was slotted into the set, and will drive me to the poorhouse! Being fortunate to have made a few friends, I have added this newest coin to my exis

TIME OUT !

I'd like to take another minute of your time. Hello everyone! I'd like to thank everyone that has corresponded with me over this details grading issue, and points changes. I have grown to admire a few of the members that post journals. I want to thank everyone for the positive support. Not a negative email from any of you? Even my competitors have sent a nice note. I'd like to keep it that way. I am proud of my coins, and I am proud of the friendship the Society has nurtured. I only t

THIS IS BECOMING ALL TOO COMMON!

When I first started collecting the $20 Canadian silver coins, I was told NGC would not grade the "snowflake" issues. They contain crystals that may come loose and therefore are not gradable. My how times have changed. Now the "catch phrase seems to be "colored outside the mint" I am out  good deal of time and money for this excuse to grade a coin that is submitted with a COA, and charged for no grading, or encapsulation. Limited numbers are being plated or colorized, and many more to come. Our

THE VERDICT IS IN!

The jury has made it's decision. First, I'd like to thank the members who were nice enough to serve as jurors in my trial over the toning Eagle chicks. After all the evidence was presented and documented, I have decided to pass down sentence upon these wonderful slabbed coins. They are destined to serve the rest of their time in my collection. They will, however, lose their place in the Registry. I have acquired another pair to replace them, but only to maintain the pristine look of the

THE UNFINISHABLE STATEHOOD QUARTER SET?

You cannot have this set in PF 70. Hello all! I am off on a tangent again. I have started a set of statehood quarters that are unique, and I believe is only a 30 coin possibility. NGC had graded a few of the PF 69 Ultra Cameo sets of Statehood quarters with a "W" designation. Several months ago I asked if these were special, and all I found out is that the "W" was for a "white" or "whiter" device. I then saw a few offered in a lot with some silver coins I wanted so I got them. After a few

The Rise and Fall of 2006 Franklin Commemorative Set

I just had to have 'em. I never intended to start collecting coins at my age(now 61). The great sets I collected with my Grandfather would have been fine, except they were all stolen. I started a "raw set of eagles when they first came out, but being a single parent, I soon had to sell them off to pay bills. Well, I finally got a job where I could work decent hours and still be with my son after school. The money wasn't bad, so I thought about coins in slabs. With the little extra I had ev
