About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

PIC #2

1817 Bust 50c Possible thinking here is that I can not figure the words out from the previous piece due to the possibility it is a fake and was made on a foreign coin. Still the weight is perfect Later--- To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.

NCS ---- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Please get it going on--- I am starting to loose much needed hair!! Friends, This is my first twist with NCS to NGC. Kinda like a trial thing to see if there is a difference and most the coins I sent needed preservation anyway. Most important I would say is a 1941 PF Liberty Dime and a 1895 5c shield. The 1895 was marked for details slab (only one) as it did have some environmental damage but what a value even in a purple slab!! The 1941 10c should do PF66, and then there is a MS65 1930's q

Selling Full proof sets is tough

I have decided to take a easier rout Friends, I have been trying to sell proof sets for two weeks now.1999 to 2009 all NGC pf70UC. I got offers for separate coins but no full set offers. I finally broke down and listed the sets for cherry pickers in the chats money-market. Any coin for the proof sets now 30% off until Friday which is when I will be at the coin show and hopefully sell or trade all of them. Get the hard ones before they are gone. Filling Slots

It's nice to be able to add a few Friends, I just added a few more Morgans, and started my Peace dollar set. I was lucky to get a 1892-cc,1893,& a 1895-0 at a fair price last night. Hopefully next month I will be able to add a few more of the tougher ones. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

A rare Indian

A sales piece on the run!! Friends, I have a beauty that I am sure there will be no other of this date and design run through here for a while. This is a 1907 $10 gold Indian. For the 1907 year there were many made and kept as well. The rarity to this one piece is - No Motto. There have only been 50 total graded by NGC and I was glad to have the chance to check this piece out while it was in route to a new ownership. Just thought I would share a pic with you. ENJOY --- Rick To see

1971-S Silver Proof IKE

Trying to get a few pics for Cody Friends, I had a group of Ikes that sold a year or more ago. I held onto a couple as I thought they might be a little different. Although I don't remember the extent of knowledge at the time I had on those as varieties. May have been type 1 reverse and I didn't even know. Well this is a type 2 rev with no islands cropped and you can't tell which it is. I was trying to get the double die pic but this seems more like a quad die than a double. Enjoy Ric

What A Week

Submission after Submission!!! Friends, O-K ---- I know it's about time I sent those submissions off I been ranting about for 2 months now. I stayed with the 1970 to 1979 MS coins which really started to add up as I chose different groups of grading. Of course I threw the 5 free certificate out there and then had 11 more left for NGC. The rest will go to NCS first which came out to 36 coins (OUCH!!!) that's gonna cost me. The PDF submission they give you does not like my computer but I copi

As W.K.F says it----A MESSAGE FROM THE GODS!!!!!!

What a conversation I had TODAY!!! Friends and Society-- The day started off regular----No work so I hung out at a friends business looking for remodel jobs that may come up. I got a small one where a 150' barn wall was falling and 50' of roof was on the ground. I took my tractor and truck full of tools and got the girl standing with most of a ridge look. Tomorrow I will build a temporary wall inside the barn and fix the broken trusses to re construct the block wall that has fallen.

2013 Winter coin over veiw

A look at the changes I made. Friends, As the winter months come to an end and spring is around the corner I look at my collection to see the changes that were made the past few months. The sun will beam out next month and most of us will head outside to other hobbies that have waited for spring to finally show up. My winter this year was a great addition of proof set pieces 1999 to date and some really nice business strike additions as well. I did manage to add a few 1800s coins that will

Coin Shots are GREAT

Keep it up and you will all be online photography specialist. A great HELO to all, I have been quite busy working and not much time to hit the computer. My admiration goes out to those that are sending the great coin shots. I guess about 1 year ago I needed to see everyones coins (since I cuold not afford any), and I will say that the club as a whole has done a wonderful job at perfecting and submitting thier coin pics with thier journals. I do have a few bids out there for some new coins next

A little Eye Candy

Nothing graded but maybe later on. Friends. I went to the shop to see what I could grab up this time. I got a bag full of mint sets that were liquidated for expenses. One set was very special as it is a triple mint set from 1949 - P,D,&S. The set was contained in a old cardboard page made for a notebook back in the 50s or 60s. The nickles, dimes, and quarters were well toned and it is a cool looking set. Here is a pic of one of the "CANDY" dimes in the set. ENJOY---RICK To se

NO CHAT BOARDS???

Hmmm things keep disappearing around here I logged into the chats this weekend to read up on different threads started this month. I don't know what went wrong but it sure didn't get repaired before the weekend started. Good luck trying to have a conversation in the chats. Probably messed up when they deleted all those PCGS world coins. Ha Ha

Time to make some room for new submissions

Not interested in buying another safe!! Friends,       Well I am getting the ball rolling again and will need room for around 400 new coins. I decided to send a box full to Heritage for Orlando Fun but first ran an add in Money Market @ 50% off listed FMV. The sales may be loss of invested but will generate the cash needed for all the new picks I have saved for submission to NGC.               Happy Coin Collecting!! It's time for the GRADING GAME

I renewed my membership and ready to GAMBLE Friends, I finally got around to membership renewal--Elite of coarse. I ordered my mylar flips from Wizard Suply, first 2" and then I called the next day and they fixed the order to 2 1/2" for me. Well I got the flips today so there will be a sweet submission of "MORGANS" heading out soon. I did order 100 flips so that should keep me busy for a little while. I have decided to venture back into the Morgans and also do some Walker Halfs so I may

1/2 oz. Gold First Spouse

Of the group that I have. I like the look of this one!! Friends, I don't have the full set of first spouse gold coins. Of the ones I do have I like the look of the Mint State coins more than the Proof coins. This Jefferson pic here with the wavy hair and the soft texture flow seems to look the best out of the group I have even though it is not the rarest. Silver Eagle proofs

a fun day loading a set Friends, I returned home after a month of working out of state last night. This morning after a cup of coffee I had the great task of loading and cataloging a set I purchased before I left. I had purchased a set of proof eagles from TPETERS but they were recieved after I left to work in Ohio. The set is very nice and missing only one coin----the 1995-W. I'll be keeping a eye out for one but it may take some time to acquire one. It is a great set to add to but I wi

A Neon Lighting for the day

Found in a batch for sale!! Friends, Last week a member here sent me a very large group of raw morgans to sell for him. These are nice Morgans for a dansco or whitman album set. He has decided to go all in on high graded coins and decided to sell these. Anyway --- As I did pics and pricing I kept eyeing a very nice toner -- 1879-S that kept trying to get out from the complete collection. I decided to share a pic of the reverse of which matches the obverse. ENJOY!! To see old co

Christmas is getting closer by the day

My wife has asked me what I want... Friends, I did finally get around to renewing my membership this week. I sent in a group of circulated state quarters for grading and hope NGC will have a Christmas gift or two in there for me when it returns. My wife asked me Monday what I would like as she knows nothing on numismatics for gifts. I will need to visit a few coin stores and see if I can find a few 1970 to 1980 uncirculated mint sets. I have quite a group but missing a few in that area to c

Roosevelt dimes on their way out!! Friends, I have made a decision to follow Todd Henson and sell off my dimes. Most of them were picked for their clearness and strike. I just have a different kick on these then I did when I started collecting them 2 years ago. So the dimes have been added to this page with my Mocoms and will be sold to venture into other choices of coin collecting. Work is picking up and the summer should prove to be another adventurous one in my numis additions. Rick

It took me a while!!

I finally have a showcase in a store!! Friends, As I have been selling coins for quite some time I have had a hard time getting in the door to sell at coin shops. Finally a new store opened up locally and they needed someone familiar with coins so I jumped at the chance. Here is a pic of the showcase with a large selection of NGC slabs and other stuff. It was nice to be able to fill a case in the store and talk coins to customers that were interested. Later---Rick To see old comments

State Quarters

A roll searching week! Friends, I received a monster box of 50 mix date rolls pre 2004 from Stuartt last week. My investment will be $50 over value and the count of submission coins is averaging 2 per roll. I will be down to 10 rolls left this morning with a cool Alabama die break that supports Helen Keller's name like a plant growing off the arm of her chair. Another special coin is the Kentucky with a solid blue reverse, top grade and full luster (looks like a star designation may find this
