About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

PCGS must have hired Speedy Gonzales

Grades never came so fast Friends & Community; I sent in a few submissions for grades and figured 30+ days for grades. Usually in the past,15 day or 30 day grading would take 22-35 days. With my coins accepted last week I was amazed to get a e-mail= grades available. My 1901 Morgan graded AU-55 & my 1904s graded AU-50, a little lower than I figured but still pleasing. I still have 22 coins for a 30 day grade submission, if they come back in two weeks I might grow some of the hai

PCGS cross over to NGC

My set would jump in value. Society and friends; I started this quest [collect all Morgan Dollars] around a year ago. First I purchased close to 100 raw coins at which time I became a member of PCGS. After first grades submissions final I was redirected on purchases. 50% of the raw coins were problem coins and 80% of the off-names 3rd party graded [cracked out] were problem coins. So it was a smart decision to stick with PCGS & NGC graded coins right? No not really. PCGS does not li

ORLANDO FUN is over

I did quite well on my set Friends, As you know I did send the best of my set to Heritage for auction. I do have a passion for the collection so you know I had some hefty reserves on quite a few of them. I was pretty happy to see 85% to 120% values on sales. It seemed that coins worth $300 to $550 went very fast. The high grade coins drug out forever and 6 came back to the house. My 1879-s MS67,1880-o MS64,1889-o MS64, 1898 MS66,1900-o MS66 & 1921-D MS66 CAC. I am still working on the Mor

One more purchase for February

I just can't say NO!!! Friends, It's been another great coin month in my world. I have managed to fully purchase my new MS Silver Eagle set that has a few MS70 Early Releases including the 2008w rev 2007. I purchased the 2011 ER MS70 the 1st of the month to pop the set up when I receive it. I will be grinning ear to ear when the set shows up this week. I also acquired a president set mostly First Day issues MS66 & 67 that only needs the last 6 coins purchased to be up to date. This set s

One For Mailman!!!

Jerry----You got me going now!!! Friends, As I posted earlier on mailman's post I have a large submission of selected coins for the 70's. With the post from Mailman I just had to pull out the 2X2's and get a pic of one of the favorites of mine. This is a solid GOLD toned IKE that will go strait to NGC as I don't think it would benefit a NCS curve. Hope to get a star grade here!! ENJOY!!! Just a pic that made me think of another collector. Brian, First off you really need to shorten your name. It took a whole line to write it out. I was adding pics for the state quarters I got graded in Jan. this weekend and one gave me that ol "Out West" thinking. Of course your sets came to mind so I posted this pic for a good view. On A NEW MISSION

What are the chances of starting a NEW State Quarter Set??? Friends, I am in the middle of a crackdown on grading Mint State Quarters with VARIETIES!! As we only have a couple listed with most that were found not listed yet I need to find out how many it takes for variety grades to become authentic. Once we get that situated Stuart and I will find out how many varieties it takes to actually start a Full State Quarter Set--Proof,MS,SMS,including Varieties. I am already thinking that this will e

O-K I will be the first

A deal for who with a sweeter pot? I am one of many of us that are at hard times. Recently I have had to auction off coins and have another coin auction in a week or so.I have taken a 20% to 35% under value to survive. Namvette68 your first idea is good 15,000 members putting a little money in a pot. At $50 per member it would be $750,000.00. If I didn't care about the rules I would be bold enough to put my coins up for sale on this site for full value+. Your heart seems in the right place, bu

Nothing Special

Just a post for new aditions Friends, I have not posted in a while but have kept up with all of your posts. Things are going well on my side of the U.S. and I did finally get my check from Heritage for the Florida Fun auction. All my company debts would eat it up but I am starting with a 25% toward each and then use the company funds to keep up. I am happy that construction is starting to crawl upward a little. And now for the best of the post. I have run into a guy that has been collecting

No sun for pics today

Went for the lights Friends and Society, As I planned to work on pics today and was left with a cloudy day I kept looking for other options. I did come up with a cooler and lights directed into it. Lets see what came of it as I am just checking the pics on a 1926 MS65 Peace Dollar. The rev is white with a wide luster band around 50% behind the eagle that is hard to get a good pic on. No Submission Record Found

A Good Sign!! Well Friends, I decided to check my 1952 Proof set submission today. As NCS has it first and then will turn it over to NGC for encapsulation. There are no records showing that I had any submissions so that tells me that things are rolling along especially since I have had over 100 coins graded this year. I should get some imformation on this quest next week. Here's hoping for a STAR!!! Rick To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be add

NO CORPORATE COMPETITION SETS NEEDED

A corporation does not get to the top by being HONEST Friends, Yep I too have seen the light, being a carpenter and not having any work last year my set crashed. However the admiration I have for my Morgan Dollars keeps a small log in the fire for a full set that someday will be complete. If the Society talked NGC into splitting up Dealers sets and Collectors sets do you think the big dealers or fancy corporations would be honest and not set up a dummy account? They would put their sets in

NO CHAT BOARDS???

Hmmm things keep disappearing around here I logged into the chats this weekend to read up on different threads started this month. I don't know what went wrong but it sure didn't get repaired before the weekend started. Good luck trying to have a conversation in the chats. Probably messed up when they deleted all those PCGS world coins. Ha Ha

No Brakes

I'm running up ranks so move over. March 1st I didn't have a clue what was going on, or a job. It sure slows down the purchases of my collection. My coins are now graded 50%-o k grades.I've been working 3 weeks, my wife was glad to get a 1500 dollar check for bills. My 50s proof sets will auction on www.proxibid April 1 with western auction. I guess the set I'll miss the most is 1999s silver 9 piece they were beautiful.Anyway got my grades--got my job--doing the auction--have 50 more coins to

message boards coming soon!! Jackson, You do know that you can send in more than 25 slots per entry right? Oh yeah they will keep the page growing for you to keep filling out those slots now. Ha Ha!! I plan on getting back in the dimes in June. Taking a few months off submitting and just selling for a while. On the pic you took I really liked it. It takes some sun to get through many toned copper coins. If the pic does not look the way you want in the sunlight wait till a partial clou

NGC quick Turn Around

Quarter Submission was TOUGH!! Friends, I sent in a submission that was accepted on Monday and is already shipped and on it's way home. That sure was a fast turn around on NGC's part. My grades were O-K but really a grade shorter than I was hoping for. I did get 1 MS68PL and a group of 15 MS67s and 30 66s to start the new State Quarter set. I think there were around 5 PL coins and yes I will study them hard to see where the barrier is in the grade differences. I expect to do another submission

New Sales Option

Seems to be a nice new addition Friends and Society, Up till this week I have had many sets for sale or trade. As usual when someone gets tired of a set they have had for a while the trade option works very well (coins for coins). This also works well when others do not have the funds available to add to their sets. I did 2 trades this week that were a little different option and worked very well. I traded coins for raw bullion and gold chains. Just a new option now available to add any coi

NEW Part Time JOB!!

Some jobs are FUN!! Friends, I recently took the Gold store owner up on a great and fun job offer. The job is running through all the coins that go through the store and finding the best for higher sales and selecting the batches for e-bay bidders. The first week was a major search of 150 rolls of wheat pennies for the 1909S VDB, 2- 1955 poor mans DDO and other dates with double mint marks that I found. Also sales on e-bay of 30 proof sets and 10 silver brown box Ikes. I was happy this w

New Chat Boards is up!!

This is going to take a little time to adjust to. Friends, I finally got into the chat boards today after work. WOW -- everything is so different that you are totally lost from the start. Have patience though as you will get use to the new platform. I posted in the money market and even added a pic of a coin from my computer data. That is a great ++ now with the easy new downloading available. Rick

new additions to a old set

Finally! a set started last year will get new faces. Friends, Sometimes we start sets intending to build them but get pulled to something else that is easier, less expensive, or faster. So the set just sits there month after month letting you know you have changed your sites. Well my proof silver eagles I purchased last year was a start that actually went nowhere as there were not many good offers for sale but other sets that surely fit the budget. I purchased a nice MS ASE set this year

New Additions Coming Soon!!!

You snooze ---- You loose!! Friends,   I have been adding some great TOP POP coins to my MODERN sets lately. I don't really make the income to afford these jewels but have been working overtime to get them paid for . It is GREAT to have such friends here that will accept the I.O.U's I needed lately to pull the purchases off and get them loaded.   My computer died this month which I guess -- 8 years is a good life span Working on my wife's laptop --- SUCKS!!! NCS ---- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Please get it going on--- I am starting to loose much needed hair!! Friends, This is my first twist with NCS to NGC. Kinda like a trial thing to see if there is a difference and most the coins I sent needed preservation anyway. Most important I would say is a 1941 PF Liberty Dime and a 1895 5c shield. The 1895 was marked for details slab (only one) as it did have some environmental damage but what a value even in a purple slab!! The 1941 10c should do PF66, and then there is a MS65 1930's q

National Parks Quarters

Latest Venture --- over 100 count coin submission!! Friends, With the Statehood quarters I found being all submitted I decided to move on with the Parks. This submission will have many "S" mint business strikes for set builders that are needing them. I got some great rolls from wdrob and others a couple years ago but didn't have the funds to submit them. 2 weeks at NGC and still at RECIEVED level I do expect the BULK submission to show the grades soon. This will be an exciting new set ad

National Parks Quarters

Submission from NGC has made it home!! Friends, I sent in a parks quarter submission a few weeks ago. Hoping to get a few top pops for the rank 1 set to boost his points spread. Well I do think NGC was a bit tight on the grades but I did come up with a MS68 Peace Memorial S mint which he could use. This is the first and only for this coin and Pinnacle Collection is glad to add it to his set. I started a set myself which should be a fun new addition. There are many extra coins if someone
