About this journal

Friends,

As of first ---- 15 years ago or so we had a FRIENDS list available on our member home page.  A few years ago the FRIENDS were changed to FOLLOWERS by the NGC group.

Now there is not even a followers list on our home page.  Is this Followers list coming back?? Seems the club is moving more and more towards unsocial practices.

Use to be a member could post their journal from their private member page. Now they have to go to Chat Boards to do so. I don't mind it but I know that many members do not use the chat boards. Will there be a link later to post journals from the member page?

Bet ya got some nice coins.

What is the best one worth? What will it be worth in 2 years? Friends & Society, Well hello and I hope everyone has finally ate the last of their turkey. Over the last year I have paid a lot of attention on coin values. There has been a significant amount of new coin buyers added to our challenged purchasing that are causing havoc in the realised market of coin values. I would call them stock-coin buyers. They buy some coins at a good fair price, and sell when the value drops.Of course the

My big Morgans will leave tomarrow.

AND THE NEW SET BEGINS Friends, The last 5 nice Morgans in my set will go tomorrow or Tuesday to Steve Twitty of P-Q Dollars. The only high grade morgan left belongs to Audrop (Dan),after over 8 weeks we are still waiting on the mail for that purchase. 3 to 5 more weeks and he can get another cashiers check and we will try it again. I have used different resources and think I have figured out a way to build a full set without breaking the bank this time. And of course the economy didn't hel

Nothing Special

Just a post for new aditions Friends, I have not posted in a while but have kept up with all of your posts. Things are going well on my side of the U.S. and I did finally get my check from Heritage for the Florida Fun auction. All my company debts would eat it up but I am starting with a 25% toward each and then use the company funds to keep up. I am happy that construction is starting to crawl upward a little. And now for the best of the post. I have run into a guy that has been collecting

NO CORPORATE COMPETITION SETS NEEDED

A corporation does not get to the top by being HONEST Friends, Yep I too have seen the light, being a carpenter and not having any work last year my set crashed. However the admiration I have for my Morgan Dollars keeps a small log in the fire for a full set that someday will be complete. If the Society talked NGC into splitting up Dealers sets and Collectors sets do you think the big dealers or fancy corporations would be honest and not set up a dummy account? They would put their sets in

RE: Going Postal

It's gotta show up sooner or later! Friends, I do believe that the postal service is short handed. Maybe due to flue along with the weather problems (ice,Mudslides,Snow). I also have been waiting over 2 weeks for a check from audrop for one of the good coins in my set. I know he is irritated that it has not made it to my house yet but what can you do. Hopefully they will catch up and get all the packages and mail where they belong. So be patient and eventually (when you think the worst) the pa

The Auctions are doing great for the sellers

I am glad not to be buying right now Friends, As you know I sent most of my set to Heritage. The auctions did well except for 6 high dollar coins ( one of which I already sold and the other 5 PQ Dollars is looking to purchase). I don't need the 5 high value coins in my set since I have downgraded the set and they just don't fit anymore. I will probably try to trade for a bunch of lower grade coins to fill the new holes in the set. I was surprised on the amount of coins that sold for mor

I realy need some time to redo pictures

A new shot of an old coin Friends, Well being a carpenter my hands have the ware of an old tree and the size of a Mack truck compared to this tiny camera. I really need a tripod but most of all I need to get good with inside lighting. My camera skills are by far great but efficient for me. I do have a shot of my 1921-D that was not taken by me and is the reason I know I need to get better with my photography. This shot is for Dan to right click and save to background if it loads here. The Road Trip is Out

The ASEs were all MS69 Friends, I finally got in touch with the sellers of that set of ASEs for sale I was going to drive 50 miles to purchase. The whole set was MS69 but I don't think they had the 2008W rev of 07s. The conversation went on a while and I invited them to check out our society and told them they could not get so much information for free anywhere else. So I didn't score any new coins but maybe a couple new members. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

May be my first coin purchase of the year

Graded-ANA-PNG? Friends, I have been e-mailing someone on a full set of ASE's graded by NGC. I did ask the grades and was told they were ANA & PNG (go figure). I will meet them tomarrow to see what they are graded at and if they are 70's they will be my first purchase this year. It will be nice to have some coins besides Morgans in my safe to admire. ORLANDO FUN is over

I did quite well on my set Friends, As you know I did send the best of my set to Heritage for auction. I do have a passion for the collection so you know I had some hefty reserves on quite a few of them. I was pretty happy to see 85% to 120% values on sales. It seemed that coins worth $300 to $550 went very fast. The high grade coins drug out forever and 6 came back to the house. My 1879-s MS67,1880-o MS64,1889-o MS64, 1898 MS66,1900-o MS66 & 1921-D MS66 CAC. I am still working on the Mor

A POSIBLE NEW BEGINING STARTER

Nobody wanted her but I see in her a new start. Good day to all, As most of you know I have sent my set to Heritage for auction to adjust to economy letdown of 2009.We actually went out to a restaurant tonight which was very nice (first time in 6 months). I told my wife that the 1880-o MS64 did not sell in the Heritage auction. An all white beauty and the best coin I owned did not go at 75% with buyers fees? My wife said it would make a great starter coin for a new set ( as long as I keep my s

Have ya heard the great news?

A good New Year for all of us Friends,I received some news today that excited me so I wanted to pass it on.I know a lot of coins went down a little in value since last year same time but the news is they are going to go up. The number of collectors has doubled this year so now it will seem harder to find that special coin and when you do there will be twice the amount of bidders. If a dealer has a coin you want he is more than likely going to profit well because they can't keep any good coins

I am going to vote for RAM-VT-yeah right

It couldn't be any worse than his vote for OBAMA Friends, Yep I have been keeping up with the journals, not adding coins for a while but still put in a shot of something to make it worth the time when I do. I can't comprehend what RAM says because it is coated with too much sugar "he must be taking lessons from the same person Obama is seeing". I know #1 is #1 because he or she is #1 and you know it because NGC told you and I will tell you they are #1.....HAPPY COIN COLLECTING P S If you wan

WELL- My wonderful set arived at Heritage Today

120 days from today I will see the sales money Friends, Well I hated sending off the 30+ high grade Morgans but will be very happy when the check clears. In all honesty I over picked my previous coins to an extent that it would cost me over my budget to finish the set accordingly. I guess I will be purchasing quite a few Morgans in March and April to get the set rolling again. Of course the MS67s and MS66s are out of range for the new set. I may put in some MS65s but we'll see this summer how

The Final coin in my set

1891-Carson City-MS64 = 6 Months Ago Friends & Society, Previously I was going to sell some coins I knew I wanted to upgrade so I contacted Heritage and started a list. The values were around 12,000 and then I looked at bills that needed taken care of and things around here we need and the values went to 22,000. Not having a lot left in the set that was high grade I put the rest in the box yesterday, valued at 32,000 and went strait to the post office before I changed my mind. I woke

A good day for some HOUSE CLEANING

Not the house I live in - The home I spend my relax mode in = (COLLECTORS SOCIETY) Friends & Society, First off I have really enjoyed the increase in population of coin shots in the journals. The ohs & ahs from my end of being a member of a collecting club that is enjoyable. This has been a harsh year for my collection, it has been a while since I have even made a purchase. I went to a show last month and found it hard to trade for coins so I have decided to box up my set (create 2

Even The Older Coinage Droped in Value This Year

I don't consider Morgans old Friends, I spent quite a while studying for a purchase---trade. I have some coins for sale or trade and was offered a 1887 MS-67. Now this is a Morgan Dollar at the best grade under $30,000 that would be a perfect candidate for a trade. The guy called me and said he paid $2,030 for the coin and he was interested in my Carson City's. I checked PCGS (which was the grader) for price value and came up with $2,100, well that is full asking price. So I checked the val

a shot for Aurum Friends & Members, I don't see any problems with taking an inexpensive shot of my coins. I don't use lights, scanners, flashes, cones, whatever. I just go outside on a sunny Sunday morning while the sun is shooting across my porch deck, place the coins on white paper and shoot. I cover my hands with a white T-shirt to keep the skin tone off the coins. Set your cameras at a low image quality for full shots. HAPPY COIN COLLECTING

HEY BUDS----- YA GOT ANY PICS?

Coin Addict---- looking for a cool view Friends & fellow members, I have not worked long enough to receive a purchase fix yet, but I feel that it will be soon. I am sure that some of us have been spending all they can & not sharing their moments & "PICS" with us. Don't be shy, put them out there. If I can't get my fix it is good to see that someone is. I help my friends out (when I can)

Rick, I got a drowned sheep! "can ya help me" Friends, I'm at work and I get a distress call from a friend. So of course I go and take care of the deed. It took a while to get him out of where he was, and a guy that was there said he was going to the store but all he had in his wallet was old money. I don't collect bills but I jumped like it was a coin. How much ya got? I purchased $28 (old for new)strait up. $2 bills= 2- 1976, 1- 1958, & a new 1928 $5 bills= 2- 1963 and a $10 bill=

A DREAM COME TRUE ( well temperary )

Did you check your coin grades at 7:00 Eastern Time this morning? Friends & Members, I got up regularly, around 6:00. I made coffee, checked E-News & E-Mails. After-wards I decided to take a few coins out of my Morgan Date set that I plan to upgrade. I logged in and pulled up my set. Every coin I owned was graded at MS66. Now I'm sure I drank three cups of coffee "but who's set am I looking at"? I checked the points and values and they were correct. Then I just gazed at all of my se

Times Are Starting To Look A Little Better In My World

I put my lower grade Morgans up for sale. Friends, The year has been a rough one for us and I hope everyone is starting to feel the relief that I am finally comforted with. I checked out Heritage auction for next month, a lot of sweet coins are now out there for our sets. I went broke on the list that I wanted and then I threw it in the trash. I have been working regular this month so everything seems pretty good for now, a nice contract would put a boost in my collection, or a sale of the
