About this journal

World Coin News 12 issues $25.99, Coin World - Weekly News Resourse 52 issues $69.99, Coin World 12 issues $24.99.  Three publications.  I am wondering which is the better of the three to subscribe to.  They all have strengths from what I can get from the few reviews listed for them on Amazon.  As well as some grips for issues delivered on time or at all.  I currently subscribe to Numismatic News for many years and issues delivered is always a problem I think because they are sent via dead last shipping.  I however hate online subscriptions, because after a day on the computer, the last thing I want to do when I sit in my favorite chair in the evening to relax is grab the tablet to read a magazine.  Nothing is better than picking up an actual piece of journalism during a commercial when watching the tube and reading an article.  I can put it down and pick it up again at the next commercial.  Any who, thoughts on the three publications would be appreciated.  As always, thanks.  PS  Anyone have the PF and MS70 of the Boys Town in brown label for sale?

THAT PHONE CALL

I guess that sometime everyone gets the "dreaded" phone call in life.  Whether it is being notifyied of a family member death or failing health.  This time it is my turn.  Failing health and serious problem has made it's way to myself.  I am having to start selling and don't really know how to approach it.  I think there are members here that work for auction firms and people who sell online alot.  If anyone could contact me about advice or people to contact I would appreciate it.  If you are lo

THANKS!!!!

IT IS WHAT IT IS. Thanks to everyone who wrote or replied to my last posting. YES! I do buy the coin for my other collections that are and some that are not slabbed. As far as the 25th Anniversary goes, I felt it would be neat to try and get all the labels and mint marks. I thought the 2011 ASE was a good time for collecting, and I made it fun as well as expensive. When I was a kid I collected baseball cards, marbles, pop bottle caps. I guess that I am guilty here also for not collecting

New HOPE HAS RISEN. Found a distributer today who said they would do everything possible to find my wanted coins, and with no money down. I see em before I buy em, can turn any or all down. No penalty, they said they would put them in their store and sell them anyway. Thanks for everybodies reply. And no it is not Ebay, been doing business there as a seller as well as a buyer for over a decade and no problem, except for two buyers who wouldn't pay and turned it over to Ebay. Needless to

Strung along

Taken advantage of. Well, I am still waiting for the 3 Silver Eagles I was promised over 3 weeks ago. Now I find out they never had them, even though the salesman said he "went in the back to physically check" that they were there. Well now they never had any. But they say they have 2 of the 3 coming, check back on Friday. This is what happens when you live in a rural ag state, small towns and no source for coins other than Ebay and the internet. You get strung along and along and along.

STORAGE QUESTION

CONTAMINATION? Question to all the long time members about storing slabs. I have many slabs in safe deposit boxes, and this particular place does not climate control there safe deposit area. None of the others in town do either. This is the question, I usually have 4 to 5 slabs held together with a rubberband. Will the rubberband damage the slab or the coin through disinegration or release of gases either on the coin or the holder? I look forward to feedback, oh! almost forgot, this is o

STORAGE QUESTION

WHAT KIND IS BEST? Thanks to everyone that responded on my question involving slabs. Now I don't know which way to go. I did have them all at the house but feared summertime storms, I.E. tornadoes, floods, which both are very common where I live. Also we have had an increasing amount of home invasions, so theft is a concern, and there really is no place in my home for real safe storage. I still have more to move. I have a small safe, and put some important documents in there with silica p

STILL OUT THERE

GOT ONE IN CHANGE TODAY AT THE BANK. Well today at the bank while getting some rolls of the Mount Rushmore Quarters D mint where I live. I got some change from a check I had cashed. In it was a WHEATIE, yes indeed it was a 1958 but really very nice. They are out there when you least expect it. No if anyone out there can get me some P mint Rushmore quarters I would appreciate it. To the new lovers of the Silver Eagle, WELCOME, they are my favorite too. But I have been working on my Mode

SORRY

I apologize. To the person I upset who wrote me 4 times in my email about my last journal. I apologize. Our families have had a hard time the past few weeks, and I should not have mentioned it at all. What I did not need is your colorful words of expression. Things were hurting enough, but I guess you felt that I was wrong. I deleted all of your touching emails. So that was it. I am sorry. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Some info please

Anyone done business with World-Numismatics?  Looking at some of their coins and wondering how they are.  Do they ship fast?  Have quality products, trustworthy.  Returns hassle free?  Just some info on them if anyone has bought from them in the past.  I believe they are in England, because they list everything in pounds for prices.  That is no big deal though.  As always Thank you everyone.

SOLICITING YOUR ADVICE AGAIN!!!

2013 Reverse Proof Buffalo Ok, I have been wondering about the reverse proof Buffalo. It has a restricted ordering time and all, but do the big authorized purchasers get them first again, and at a discounted price as well? I am looking at getting one being first year of issue and all. What would be best, buy from the Mint? Buy from the after market now or later? Buy one already certified now or later? I guess I just am not experienced enough about gold buffaloes. I can take a hit on

SO MUCH FOR MY GUESSES.

5 COINS ON WAY HOME Well my coins are graded and on the way here. My Reverse Gold Buffalo wasn't a 70 and both Reverse proof Eagles were 70, the SP, a 69 by the way, I returned a SP70 to a dealer I bought it from because of a gouge in it, so how is mine a 69? The 2012 Proof eagle from the San Fran set is also a 69. I felt they would all be 70s except for the 2012 S reverse proof, because it had like bag marks on the obverse and reverse. And here it comes in at a 70, go figure, I took go

SLAB OR COIN?

BROWN LABEL CIVAL RIGHTS RARE? Hi, everyone. Read with great interest W.K.F.s post about the different third party certifiers. Bravo to saying what he did about the TV guy. If I sold all my collection for what he is getting, I might be upper middle class. SERIOUSLY! I collect the Modern Commemoratives, and so far through out the years I have been getting the NGC Brown label. Trying to keep it uniform I guess. Usually I send some in for grading, but this time for the 2014 Civil Rights on

SILVER EAGLES ABNORMALITY?

DO MOST OF THE EAGLES HAVE THIS? Was going through 3 rolls of silver eagles last night and today, and spotted something unusual to me. On all 60 coins on the reverse below the word FINE the letters f i n and sometimes e have a continuing downward ghostlike image out to the rim. It is almost like an extension of the letters, and appears to be raised. I was using a 20X glass, cuz I wanted to at least give myself a fair shot at MS70s cuz I wa going to pick some out for grading. Guess what? N

REGRADE

GOOD, BAD OR INDIFFERENT? Has anyone sent back coins for regarding that they just plain felt the coins were better than what was given them? How was your experience? If two graders look at each and every coin that is graded and encapsulated, has any been re-graded down or up, depending on what the second grader felt? If so, how would one know, or are they looked at so fast, they are just signed off that that is what the grade is? If you have them re-graded, and they come back the same as y

QUESTION OF THE WEEK!!

LAST WEEKS DREW GREAT DIALOGUE. If you have a certified coin MS or PF70, and after some time it develops toning or hazing or spots. Is this coin still considered a 70, and should it or should it not receive the same value at a sale? I ask this because it has happened to me and probably most all of you too. So if it still should attain a 70 value, then should not a coin exhibiting small toning or hazing or spots, in otherwise perfect condition be graded a 70 also???? Thank you all. Believ

PVC Damage?

How to tell. Friends, hate to pull anyone away from the current "rim" debate, but I just bought a very nice 1984 Olympics 3 coin set. The S minted coin has some green area's on it and am trying to determine if it is PVC damage. I have been around the coin world only a short time, and have read some on it and viewed the NCS video etc. But, I am still not sure exactly what this damage is and can it successfully be removed without then making the coin "cleaned". This is a very very nice coin

Complete 2011 MS69 Silver Eagles label set? I have 13 different holder labels for th ms69 2011 silver eagle now collected. Will the burnished be allowed in this category? I hope so, cuz I am ready to upload them. Also if I have omitted a ms69 for the 2011 silver eagle let me know and I will definetly seek it out. Also check out the Struck at West Point Mint with the brown label. I cannot find a MS70 like it. Was told this is a "unique" label. What are your thoughts? Also cannot find th

In who's eye? Here is a pic of my latest aquisition. MS69 W Silver Eagle. I have looked this coin over and over with a 10x glass, and can find no faults. Used diffferent light, angles and such. It seems all my MS69 W burnished Eagles are totally problem free. Am I lucky, is it the burnished blank that doesn't let small imperfections show? I don't know. Perhaps some of you more experienced members can help. I have MS70s not burnished that should be 69s or even 68s. I know grading is a

Overwhelmed

Confused to say the least Just when I thought I was within sight of accomplishing my goal of collecting a complete set of 2011 Silver Eagle holders with different labels and different eagles in ms70, I find out that the Mint is issuing 3 labels for coins from the 5 coins anniversary set. This means if I understand it right and the kind lady at NGC explains it there are three coins, the "W" "S" and "bullion" coin to get the pedigreed label. Thats fine, except they can also come with the earl

THE DUMMY HAS LEARNED Just got back from the bank to check my stuff. Shock is an understatement. I had used rubberbands to hold my stuff and lo an behold, I have to report horrible news. My silver ingots, some of which I had put in there less than a few months ago, TARNISHED!!! This is even tho they are "sealed" in the whatever they are sealed in when you get them from the BIG DEALERS. Some slabs, both gold and silver, also. I am sick. Guess you live and learn. Appreciator of coins No I am not offended. When I can buy a NGC ms69 2011 silver eagle on a Monday and sell it for 2 1/2 times what I paid for it the next week to help fund my goal, that is not true collecting I guess. I look at my endeavor like when I was small and had all the blue trifold books to collect pennies nickels dimes etc, when you found one you were excited, no different here. Actually when I do finally accomplish my task and I have maybe 8 to 12 labels that are rare or hard to
