About this journal

It was about time. Finally the ability to make comments to Journal entries is back. Thank you. Really, thank you. However, I see all my previous journals that were somehow critical of the Collectors Society (such as "Really Collectors Society?" 2014 where I complained that PCGS graded coins were not allowed in competitive sets for world coins). So much for the first amendment.

New CAR...

Well, the time came and I just acquired a new 2 escudos from the Central American Republic. It is a nice example, not terribly expensive as all gold CAR coins, and yes, problem free. I just need an 8 escudos to complete the type set. That one will have to wait as normally are more expensive than German Cars... Of course will not make it to the competitive set, but that does not bother me. What matters is that it is finally here.

Disapointed NGC/Collectors Society

This is a headache. This new format for the Journals is a headache. I am not sure on why the Collectors Society / NGC are not listening and return the ability to comment on postings. One of the nice things that this page had was the ability to communicate with other collectors. That is gone by the "improvements" made to the page. Ghastly.

According to Carlos Jara (Mexican Coin Company Newsletter September/October 2014): "On October 31, (1822), the mayor of Guatemala City indicated that the amount of coins (medals) to be minted for that purpose (proc

Really Collectors Society?

Really? Really? Recently I got one of the most incredible coins, one that I have been chasing for years. Top of the pop by PCGS! However, oh my, the Collectors Society does not allow PCGS graded coins in the World Competitive sets... While I do not collect coins to put in the sets, well I felt cheated by the Society. This is a coin worth thousands of point and believe me, I am not about to spend 100 just to change holder to NGC (after adding S&H both ways + grading, etc). While normally I
