About this journal

It has been about 3 1/2 years since I posted anything in the journals.  Ever since I sold my 1959-Date Mint State Lincoln Cent Collection to purchase some land in north Florida in 2015 I haven't posted any of the coins I still have in my collection.  I see a lot of my old coins in new sets now and I am glad they have started to find new homes.  If any one you Lincoln cent collectors want to you can view the attached registry award link from my former #1 set and use any of the pictures that robec1347 took for me. https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/Coins/awards/WinningSetDetail.aspx?AwardSetID=59937.  Had just about every 1959-date mint state Lincoln in the top grade when I sold the set.  I recently added this NGC ancient to my collection.  Hope you enjoy.  As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

1955 NGC MS66 RB Double Die Obverse Lincoln Wheat Ear Cent

NGC has graded 3546 examples of the 1955 Double Die Obverse Lincoln Wheat cent.  Out of those NGC has graded only 2 at MS66.  One example at MS66RD and one example at MS66RB.  Big price difference between the two coins.  I used to own the MS66RB example.  At one time I had all the major double die obverse and reverse Lincoln cents in my collection including a PCGS MS66RD+ 1972 Double Die Obverse Lincoln Cent and an awesome example of a NGC MS67RD example of that same coin that KKM sold me many y

It has been about 3 1/2 years since I sold off my modern mint state Lincoln cent collection.  I am glad to see some of my former coins showing up in other collections and finding new homes. Here is a link for my 2014 #1 ranked 1959-date mint state Lincolns.  Feel free to use any of the picture in the set if you now own that coin.  https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/Coins/awards/WinningSetDetail.aspx?AwardSetID=59937.  I just recently added this coin to my collection.  Not the most

Loving Life and Big Congrats too the 2015 Registry Winners

A big shout out too all of my fellow collectors who supported me. Hi everyone. I would like too congratulate all of the 2015 registry Award winners. Great job. I was blessed too have won my share of registry awards for my former collection of Lincoln 1959-Present Lincoln circulation issue small cents. KKM, Jay Church and Sheila Moore you should be proud of your collections. It took me longer to catch Jay Church over the last several years than any of the other categories. A big congrats t

My last post and some reflections on my former collection

Some really good pictures Hi everyone. This will be my final post so I wish everyone the best. Most of you know that I collected Lincoln cents. After placing all 4 of my modern 1959-date business strike Lincoln cents this past year, which was the first time a collection had received #1 in the registry sets or tied, I sold my entire collection earlier this year. Do I miss collecting coins, YES, but every time I am at my property that I bought my smile is much bigger. I know some of my fell

Back from the depths of obscurity-SS Republic

Kind of like my collection Hi Everyone. It has been several months since my last post announcing the sale of my Lincoln cent collections. I have been enjoying the property I bought in north Florida with the proceeds of that sale. Whitetail deer, eastern turkeys, Florida black bears and monster hogs aplenty. Although I sold the majority of my coin collections, I have always been a collector of some sorts since I was a child. Recently I received a package out of the blue from one of the maj

Sold My Entire Collection too Pursue a Dream

Yes, $2.00 in Lincoln cents made it happen Hi Everyone. Well, this may come as a shock to a lot of people but this past week I sold off my entire Lincoln cent collection too pursue a dream. $2.00 worth of Lincoln cents is basically what my collection consisted of. The MS66RB 1955 DDO was just one of the many highlights that use to be mine. I also had all the modern major doubled die obverse and reverse Lincoln cents in top grade. i had been wanting a piece of land for most of my life where

A Couple New Additions

CAC certified Hi Everyone. Here are 2 new additions too my collection from Heritage Auctions from last week. The first is a NGC MS67* 1943 S Lincoln Wheat Ear small cent CAC certified and the second is a NGC MS67 1943 Lincoln Wheat Ear small cent CAC certified. The 1943 S I will send back into NGC in the future because of the scuffing on the holder. They both are really nice looking coins in hand. I hope you enjoy them both and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting To se

Better Late Than Never

Look what came in the mail today When the mail lady rang the doorbell I was a little surprised that she had something for me to sign for. Was not expecting any deliveries. I saw the envelope was from the ANA (American Numismatic Association). I had no idea what it could be. Well, too my surprise, it was my 3rd place medal for my 1958-2008 Lincoln Memorial circulation issue registry set from the ANA show from last year in Atlanta. Yes, from 2014. It was a little bit of numismatic happines

NGC MS67RD 1941 Lincoln Wheat Ear Cent CAC Certified

17 out of 18 CAC certified. Hi Everyone. It has been awhile since my last post. I just recently added this NGC MS67RD 1941 Lincoln Wheat Ear cent to my 34-58 Lincoln registry set which puts me at 25% complete for the set. About 5 years ago when I sold off my 34-58 set it was at the time the #3 set. I decided to sell it off for a couple of reasons. First off, a lot of the coins that I had at the time had either slightly toned or just did not look all that good to me. Secondly I sold the s

A major coin upgrade within my collection-NGC MS67RD 1972 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Memorial CAC certified

Only 8 graded at MS67RD Hi everyone. Well, I had hope too add this one before the cutoff for the NGC registry sets but it did not come up for auction until the day after. For the longest time I had a PCGS MS66+RD example CAC certified in this slot. i bought this coin for a decent price back then and had it sent into CAC. Of course I had hoped to upgrade this coin someday. I had not seen a NGC example come up for auction in over 8 years. The last 4 PCGS MS67RD examples that came up for au

NGC MS67 1943 D Lincoln Wheat Ear cent CAC certified Hi Everyone. With addition of this coin and a few others I have climbed back into the top 50 in the 34-58 Lincoln Wheat Ear cent circulation issued registry sets. Some of you that follow me know that I did have this particular set as high as #3 a few years back. I made a decision at that time too sell the majority of that set off too pursue my 59-Date set. There were some in that set that I that I did have some sellers remorse but sometim

Another CAC certified coin Hi Everyone. About 6 years ago I had a top 5 34-58 Lincoln Wheat Ear circulation set. I sold the majority of that set intact too use the proceeds too pursue other coins. Just started too rebuild this set about 9 months ago. I have been trying too buy coins that I think would pass CAC standards. Out of the 15 coins I have sent in so far 7 have met CAC standards. This NGC MS67RD 1946 D Lincoln Wheat Ear just passed yesterday. Pretty tough too buy a coin from an

NGC MS67RD 1946 Lincoln Wheat Ear cent lst CAC Sticker

1st one graded MS67RD for this year Hi Everyone. Please be respectful as far as your thoughts and comments on CAC. I recently had some coins sent off too CAC by a fellow CS member for me. They were all Lincoln Wheat Ear cents between 1934-1958. My NGC MS67RD 1946 Lincoln Wheat Ear cent filled in I believe the last vacant slot that did not have a coin sticker at MS67RD between 1934-1958. They are tough on Lincolns. I had a few more that sticker as well between 34-58. Kind of cool too fil

An Interesting Die Variety Find On My NGC 2009 MS68RD Formative Years Lincoln

Wexler WDDR-002 Die Variety Hi everyone. I just recently added the 2009 Formative Years too my set in the grade of NGC MS68RD of which NGC has only graded 18 so far. When I received the coin in had I noticed it was one of the 10 different die varieties that Wexler has recognized. NGC has not recognized these yet but I hope they will

Home from the ANA Money Show and some pictures of the Saddle Ridge Hoard.

What a blast Hi everyone. Got home late last night from the ANA Money Show in Atlanta. What an amazing show. I was there too display my Lincoln Memorial registry set for the 1st time in a competitive display and I received a 3rd place ribbon in the historical and political category. I was very pleased. I learned a lot from this show. One thing for sure it is not the value of your display but how it is presented so that the general public can walk in and understand what you are displaying
