1857 EAGLE 1C CLASHED WITH 50C

Variety Diagnostics

This muled clash die is between the Flying Eagle obverse and the die of a Seated Half Dollar obverse. It is easily identified by the clash marks through “MERICA” of AMERICA. Other clash marks can be seen protruding from the eagles wings. On late die state specimens the clash in AMERICA becomes a die break.

Comments

Of all of the muled clashed dies this seems to be the most available. Regardless it is still a very desirable piece. To date no half dollar muled die clashed coins have been recorded.
