The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
As 1929 unfolded, the world economy fell apart. Interest rates climbed and the days of easy credit were over for the American people. Jobs were starting to become scarce, but most workers were still employed as 1929 drew to a close. No one knew how bad things were about to become for the next several years. It is obvious that this coin was set aside and somehow survived the vicissitudes that swept the worlds economies during these years. No doubt most coin collections were spent for food money as workers struggled to stay employed as the 1930s churned on.
