Description & Analysis

This issue is somewhat a replay of the 1859 edition, though with a greater tendancy toward incomplete striking. The example illustrated is a case in point, as its centers are very mushy, and only a couple of the reverse stars are complete.

Circulated examples are fairly common. Mint State coins are scarce, with gems being quite rare.
