The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
With a sizeable original mintage of 11.3 million pieces, the 1926 does not seem like a coin that would be hailed as rare, or even scarce, in most grades. Nevertheless, specialists in this series realize that the 1926 is as poorly produced as many S-mint issues in this series, and only about 10% (per Cline) of the original mintage was produced with Full Head definition.
