Description & Analysis

The mintage of half dimes at the Philadelphia Mint in 1871 was quite high, and this date is plentiful in all grades through MS 64. Nice examples may be found without much difficulty, though collectors are advised to seek fully struck pieces. The coin illustrated reveals very bold die clashing on both sides.
