Though the 1858 O half dime mintage of 1.66 million pieces implies that this date should be common in Mint State, it is actually noticeably more scarce than its Philadelphia Mint cousin. Even so, examples of average quality remain available. Most are better struck than the typical half dime of the 1856-58 period.
