Description & Analysis

1854 O half dimes are common in worn condition, but Mint State pieces are far more elusive than their Philadelphia Mint cousins. The large mintages since 1853 began to erode the master hubs and dies for this coin type, with the result that the border denticles became indistinct on many later issues. Buyers should seek out sharp impressions.
