Description & Analysis

This issue is scarce across all grades. Despite having just half the mintage of 1884 S dimes, both Greer and Fortin report that 1886 S pieces are more elusive in circulated grades.

The same Medium S mintmark was carried over from 1885, and just two die pairs are known for this entry.
