Description & Analysis

With its large mintage the 1876 CC dime is common in all but the highest grades. This is true, however, only of the many Type 1 Reverse die marriages. Just a single die pairing is known with the Type 2 Reverse (photo), and this is quite scarce across all grades.

With nearly three dozen die marriages overall, the 1876 CC dime is a rich field for the variety collector. The most popular variety is the very obvious doubled-die obverse. This blurred and rusted die was paired with no fewer than three reverses. Also found for this issue is a less dramatic doubled-die reverse, as well as a misplaced date variety.
