Description & Analysis

Delivered in sizeable numbers, the 1926-S seems to have experienced significant circulation in the decades following its production. Nevertheless, a decent number of Uncirculated coins were retained at the San Francisco Mint. Most of these had been paid out in the 1940s and 1950s, although a few bags were included in the Treasury releases of the early 1960s, and the Redfield Hoard also contained several bags. An easy issue to locate in grades up to and including MS64, the '26-S is scarce as a Gem, and unquestionably rare any finer.
