Description & Analysis

David Lange notes two counterbalancing forces at work with Full Bands examples of the 1943 issue in his Complete Guide to Mercury Dimes: 'Typical of Philadelphia Mint dimes from this period, most examples are not fully struck at their centers. The low percentage of full band specimens is offset, however, by the sheer number of Uncirculated coins, making this date easy to locate in any popularly collected grade.'
