Description & Analysis

It's possible that this date was saved uncirculated in greater numbers than previous issues as souvenirs of the new century, though that technically did not begin until 1901. Even gems are fairly plentiful for this issue, and the only obstacle in finding the right coin will be weakness of strike in placed and die erosion at the periphers. Both features are typical of high mintage coins.

The several RPDs for this date are all minor, and variety attention centers around the obvious doubled-die reverse.
