The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
This is one of 26 different Type Three double eagle issues with mintages in excess of one million coins, however, is a rarity in Choice or Gem quality. Nearly all of the 1,048,550 coins produced entered circulation, or were exported with many of those later melted. Those coins that have returned to this country are apt to be low-end mint state at best.
