The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
Most 1850-C quarter eagles are found in VF and XF. Properly graded AU pieces are scarce and become rare in the higher range of this grade. In Uncirculated, the 1850-C quarter eagle is far scarcer than the population figures might suggest and it is possible that as few as four or five truly Uncirculated pieces exist.
