The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
In terms of its overall rarity, the 1845-D is similar to the 1844-D. However, in high grades, the 1845-D is considerably more rare. This is an issue that is generally well struck. As a rule, the 1845-D quarter eagle is seen with deep, detracting marks. This coin has very nice surfaces.
