The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
The 1906 is relatively rarer than such other late date Liberty Eagles from the Philadelphia Mint as the 1893, 1894, 1899, 1901, and 1907. Nonetheless, this issue is easily obtainable from an overall standpoint in grades up to and including the MS63 level of preservation. At the Choice level, however, commonality yields to scarcity, which in turn gives way to genuine rarity as one surpasses the MS65 grade level.
