The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
An exceptionally rare and valuable eagle. In Akers' auction survey he conducted several years ago this issue was tied with several others for seventh place in rarity according to average grade, and it ranked in the top 25% of the series in overall rarity. While two AU examples were recorded in his survey, it was suspected that these coins would not hold up to today's grading standards as they were sold in 1968 and 1978.
