Description & Analysis

The economic boom prompted by World War I lasted until mid 1920, even though the war had ended nearly two years earlier. This heightened commerce is reflected in the huge number of nickels coined at the Philadelphia Mint in 1920.

This issue is common in worn condition and in Mint State grades as high as MS 65. Like the example illustrated, most coins are less than fully struck, but this has only minimal impact on their assigned grades. The luster of this issue is typically quite pleasing, which more influential in grading.
