Description & Analysis

The mintmark punch intended for quarter dollars was applied to a single dime reverse die. As the space for mintmarks on quarters is much smaller than that available to dimes, the result is a what seems a Micro O on the dime. This die is known paired with two different obverses, so it was used to make a fair number of pieces. While thus not rare, the Micro O variety is extremely popular, due to its very obvious nature.

Circulated examples are only moderately scarce, but Mint State survivors are quite rare.
