The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
The 1937 quarter saw a proof mintage of 5,542 pieces. Numerous examples have survived to the present day, as evidenced by the several hundred coins certified by NGC and PCGS. Most of these are concentrated in the PR63 to PR66 range. Superb Gems can be located with some searching, but higher level coins are nearly unobtainable.
