The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date, mintmark, denomination and striking process (MS, PF, or SP). These IDs are a simple organization of all coins prior to variety attribution and grading.
A rare and underappreciated issue among With Motto tens, the '77-S had a mintage of only 17,000 pieces and the vast majority of survivors are VF with a few XF coins known. In AU, this date is a major condition rarity and comparable to the better known 1876-S (but priced significantly lower).
